Hi everyone,
I’m curious how you first discovered OpenRA. I found it while searching for a way to play old Command & Conquer games again on modern systems.
Did you come from the original games or just found it randomly?
Also, what made you keep playing?
Would love to hear your stories!
How did you find OpenRA?
Re: How did you find OpenRA?
Found sometime in 2014. How? Dont really remember. Problably looking for a way to run my favorite RTS Dune 2000 on modern OS. And also I saw first screenshots of OpenRA Tiberian sun prototype (2015?) somewhere, which I think was right on the corner (mistake)
What immediately hooks me was that its not just copycat of OG games, but also update the gameplay. (Which was very outdated by that time)
I played mostly RA until 2020 (because d2k was so good back then and havent much players - actually last one doesn't change, but discord certainly helps )
Then Covid strike and I start dig more into the whole modding/balancing coding thing. So its more a occasionally hobby now.

Re: How did you find OpenRA?
I suppose, I read about it in forum of Dune2000 (forum.dune2k.com)How did you find OpenRA?
circa 2015.
Dune2000 by OpenRA was not quite good in 2015.
Later, near 2020, I was looking for something under Linux. And OpenRa became much better.

Hi everyone! I discovered OpenRA a while back when looking for a way to play the old C&C games on modern hardware. The fact that it not only revives the classics but also modernizes the gameplay (control groups, fog of war, balance changes) really hooked me. The community keeps it alive in such a great way. Glad to be here!
