This is an announcement for the fourth Combined Arms tournament. If you're interested either reply here or message on Discord.
As of right now the plan is as follows:
- To begin 1st August, played on v1.09 which is currently being tested (or possibly a tournament specific version if we think that's best).
- Swiss style group stage (6 rounds, 2 games per round (1 point per win so each round allows for 2-0, 1-1 or 0-2 record)) followed by knockout stage where top 8 go into upper bracket (double elimination) and the next 8 go into the lower bracket. Best of 3 until semi-finals which are best of 5 (along with the 3rd place match), and best-of-seven finals [note: number of games open to change subject to player agreement].
- Limit of 10 days for matchups to be played each round. Opponents should be contacted and a time (or multiple times) arranged. If one person doesn't show up for the arranged time (or fails to respond), then if it can't be rearranged to be played within the 10 days, the person who did show up can choose their score (since 2-0 isn't necessarily the most beneficial in the Swiss stage). If neither shows up, or no fixed time is agreed upon, and the the game isn't played within the 10 days, it's a 1-1 but the scores won't contribute to the final number which is used to determine knockout placement.
- If a matchup is forefit, if both players agree, they can play the matchup and retroactively update the score before the group stage finishes.
- If 3 days have passed since a round starts, and all other matchups have been played, and a player hasn't responded re: arranging a match, it can be considered a forefit and the next round can start.
- Two forefits and a player can be disqualified/replaced unless there's very good reason not to.
- The Blind Pick lobby option should be enabled so players don't know their opponents faction until the game starts.
- If anyone has to drop out I'll attempt to find a suitable replacement, otherwise their opponent(s) will just have to be given the win.
- There will be prize pool, but contributions aren't finalised yet. Estimated to be minimum £500. Allocated as follows:
1st 40%
2nd 20%
3rd 12%
4th 8%
5th 6%
6th 6%
7th 4%
8th 4%
- For group stage, each player picks one map since there are 2 games to be played. For knockout stage, first map for each matchup will be pre-selected by admin, loser of previous game picks following map. The same map can't be played multiple times in a series, if both players pick same map in group stage then second map should be randomly selected.
- For all players who don't finish top 16, a second knockout bracket will be made if enough players want to participate, just for fun.
- Fast clicking macros/programs are allowed, but anything more sophisticated isn't.
- Games to hopefully be streamed via replays (or live if they're at convenient times).
- Games should be played on one of the tournament servers which have config locked and non-tournament maps can't be chosen, however if connections are poor other servers can be used as long as the settings are correct. Replays sent to Darkademic if played on other servers.
