Standings and Statistics

Here are the final tables from Season 17 with head-to-head results and strikes taken into account. Upps' victory over sir in the group stage deciding the order of second, third and fourth places. Lower down then Mo and milkman finished exactly tied, both on six points with a draw in their head-to-head.

In Minions then Kalion finished with an almost unblemished record, just dropping one game against Jur. Unfortunately jawsh dropped out, but even so this season had the fewest forfeits since Season 9. Back then players did not have to finish all their group stage matches, and so the season finished with players having played different numbers of games from each other. Excluding Season 9 then this was the fewest forfeits ever!

In the playoffs then Fazzz came out on top, and all matches were won by four games to one.

Season 17 saw a similar number of players as recent seasons, and this resulted in a similar number of matches being played.

Looking at the raw performance of Allies and Soviets shows one of the worst balanced seasons ever - 56.4% of games being won by Allies. This is just marginally lower than Season 9 when 56.5% of games were won by Allies.

Restricting to just the 47 games where both players picked Any, and the two factions were different then we see a much closer story. there were three players who stuck entirely to Soviets (anjew, Sigil and Hans) and only one who stayed with Allies (Tailix). Tailix and anjew did roughly as well as each other (albeit in different divisions), and Sigil and Hans both did slightly worse than average in their games. Whether this was due to a faction imbalance remains to be seen, but we have consistently seen Allies out performing Soviets for a couple of years now.

Looking at the individual subfactions and again restricting to the Any vs Any matches then we get roughly 25-50 matches per subfaction. In this graph we'd expect Russia and Ukraine to have been played similar numbers of games, and the Allied factions a little bit lower (since the game chooses the faction at random first, and then the subfaction uniformly at random from the faction).

The win rate graph perhaps suggests that France, Ukraine and England have been better than Russia and Germany in the last two seasons. It's hard to believe this though, especially that England is better than Germany, given the extreme rarity of British spies, MGGs, chronotanks and chronospheres.
