Suggestion to change Red Alert Logo and Icon

I think it's not necessary to use the hammer and scythe as symbol for Red Alert, it can be a little bit polemic
I don't get offended by it but people usually asks me about the shortcut icon on my desktop and I have to explain it's a game
If there was a national-socialist faction in OpenRA they problably won't use a swastika for a logo. I think that would be valid for communism symbol as well.
I'm just against political symbols, many people arent in the same way, thats why Tiberium series are preference for some.

Okay. This idea sounds interesting, but what do you suggest changing it to? Hammer and scythe are a well-known symbols of USSR and hence they were used for OpenRA Red Alert logo, since the player can fight with or as part of a Soviet team.

Your concern is well understandable, and sadly we live in times where people get offended by everything. The soviet symbol is a game-lore icon, and finding an equally recognizable symbol, that c&c players are used to recognize and associate with Red Alert is not an easy task.

Maybe a fast-temporary solution could be to find an image you like, convert it in an .ico file, and then change the icon on the desktop shortcut.

But I agree that would not be recognizable as would be, sorry i never had pc red alert games, then never saw an original RA desktop icon, i just had RA Retaliation for PSX

There is a desire for a new OpenRA logo

• To specify that OpenRA is a generic RTS game engine
• That the RA in OpenRA does not stand for Red Alert and and includes other games
• To avoid political issues, as this is a soft or hard banned symbol in many countries. Only us red alert players have been desensitised to this iconography

Привет, мне кажется, что классический символ RA это действительно уважаемый символ эпохи 90х годов. Конечно это беспокоит многих и особенно в последнее время. Как это говорил Рейган империя зла . Думаю его нужно оставить так как это уже история .
