Hey guys! I'll just copy my ideas from IRC to give you a general idea what this will be all about;
feel free to leave your own feedback here!
[00:35] <FiveAces> Hey Ripley! So I've had a chat with SoScared, and we agreed on some cornerstones for the tourney.
[00:36] <FiveAces> It is going to take place over the course of 2 weekends:
[00:36] <FiveAces> March 5th/6th for the preliminary rounds
[00:36] <FiveAces> and March 12th/13th for the finals
[00:36] <FiveAces> I will produce an announcement video this week
[00:37] <FiveAces> and we can start advertising next week
[00:37] <FiveAces> the prize pool will prob be split 80/20
[00:37] <FiveAces> and I thought we should allow cross-mod matches
[00:38] <FiveAces> where we have a cointoss for each match: First pick gets to decide the mod, 2nd pick gets to choose the map
[00:38] <FiveAces> what do you think?
We still have a lot of time until this tourney goes live, so there's no need to rush anything.
I will start producing the announcement video this week, it will be a RA-style cutscene again.
Once it is released, we can start promoting the tourney like mad, linking the video all across game forums.
The Prize pool will be a large selling point and might attract other RTS players as well.
Live coverage will of course provided by soscared and me.
I have already ordered grahpics for the tourney at gamerepalys.com, and they will give us ad space as well (at their front page, apparently)

Just to be clear, this will start out with 'best of 3' brackets right? 2 x 1v1's and then a 2v2 tiebreaker? If so this is the most exciting team tournament format I've ever seen!
FiceAces, if there's time, allow me to see if I can't do some final edits to your announcing video before it releases. I'd love to contribute if possible!

i think the format should be 'all games are played' regardless of whether team 1 wins both 1 v 1's.
every team should have the chance to play the 2 v 2 match, and alot of the viewers would be signing up to watch the 2 v 2 as the main event of a 'round'
As an after thought, maybe the first set of brackets could be the knockout format, i.e you lose your first two 1 v 1's and you dont get to play the 2 v 2, but on the higher rounds like the quarter and semi and finals, the 2 v 2's would be played regardless. maybe even in the middle. i,e a) 1 v 1 (b) 2 v 2 (c) 1 v 1.
just some shower thoughts.
appologies for delay on the announcment thread. but these are probably things we should figure out sooner rather than later

I see your point of 2v2 being real popular among the viewers and most players obviously prefer team games.
With the exception of the finals/semi-finals, I think it would be preferable to have as much of a consistent format as possible
What if we awarded the 2v2 match 2 points? That way, in the (unlikely) event a team looses both 1v1's but wins the 2v2, the score equalizes and we'll have a 4th 2v2 as a tie breaker. That would also underscore 2v2 as the defining factor of the tournament.

Have just posted a thread for signups.
i would like to keep any format / officials type conversation in here and out of anywhere public if possible. if there is anything needed changing on the thread just let me know.
before we kick off id just like to mention that in my opinion this is OUR tournament. im not the boss, im not the slave. we have worked well together in the past and i am confident we can all handle this fun project together any decisions i will be running past you guys when possible. obviously sometimes we cant all be online at the same time though.
and i hope it gives you all the content you are hoping to get out of it.
i am unaware of what the gamereplays side is requiring / expecting / offering so if someone could enlighten me on that so i don't put my foot in my mouth if asked about it.
i will handle all the signups in thread and i will make up the brackets and have them posted after signups close.
id like to do a simple type brackets display like i have in every other tournament.
basically trusty old MSPAINT. but its gives alot of control and benefits, such as being displayed in the thread and updated regularly instead of an external page everyone has to visit periodically.
we need to discuss issues like
1. How long we wait for a team before disqualifying.
2. rearrangements for timezones
3. do we want to ask any of the 'overflow' signups to stand by as backup.
4. Servers. (my vote is 64h all the way) ..i will contact jazz_kcs and chat to him about it asap
5.norman... in or out?
6. time for first match on the 5th?
7. Limited signups?

Regarding Point Nr 5
Dear TTT-2016 Tactical Ops,
please consider the team (remnants, tbh) of [64H] Multiplayer to act as proud sponsors for both the game and voice servers for what I hope to be yet another quality tournament. We shall put the experience gathered from the Big Team Tournament and apply it to possible future bliss!
Voice server rooms will be available both for the administrative heart of the tournament [you guys - private] as well as for players shall they wish to communicate [public], which - of course - is a clear advantage over teams that do not, so we should advertise the possiblity of it.
Game servers (plus possible backups) will be available locked by specific passwords for each day that you can dispense amongst the contestants to make sure that players will always have a space for tourny matches.
Replay webfolders for storing and assorting the replays [which are mandatory to hand in for the scoring - therefore we will have all of them eventually] will be available at my webserver as they were in the last tournament. This will make collecting them much easier, where afterwards when the tourny is completed they can all be uploaded efficiently to the gamereplay site as well.
I will be mostly at home during these weekends fiddling around with my home audio equipment and some new shenanigans that I bought so I will be on constant yet sporadic guard duty with you guys (over)watching the tourny servers/games and the voice server.
Regards

Afaik not much. They'll just promote the tournament on the site.
1. 15 minutes! I think we can afford to set the standards high, I predict a more dedicated sign-up given the long preperation, prizepool and ads. Failing to meet-up without good reason becomes more unforgiving.Ripsn wrote: we need to discuss issues like

2. In the past I've mass PM'ed players for information. I could do that closer to the sign-up deadline.
3. Sure, better chance at moving tourny forward quickly should a team/player do a no show. In that case I think a stand-by registered team should be favored over a player filling in for a missing team-player.
5. Unsure. He'd be an asset - if he registers seriously without a goofy, condescending reply, we should consider it.
6. Somewhere around 21:00 GMT/UTC. Late for Europe but it'd be around noon on the US West coast I think.
7. Let's hope we get to that
