Change directory

Post by Nadeem »

Hi everyone,

Is there a way to change the directory that OpenRA creates in the My Documents folder in Windows? I just want everything to be stored in the directory I installed the game itself in and NOT under My Documents.

Time and again different programs try to create folders and save files under My Documents, without asking, which clogs up the folder.
I just want it to be for what I choose to be there, nice and tidy ... ;)

Thanks alot!

Make sure that OpenRA isn't installed in Program Files (or any other write-protected directory), and then create a directory called "Support" in the same location as the OpenRA.exe. The game will then use that instead of the documents directory.

Thanks a lot, seems to work!

I'm sorry, even though this is unrelated, is there a way to save default settings for skirmish mode? E.g. I want fog of war to be off be default or starting resources to be a certain amount. Right now, it gets changed back to the program's default settings every time I start OpenRA.

By the way, it even worked under Program Files, I just removed write-protection from the OpenRA folder ...

No I don't think so unfortunately.
