Combined Arms Tournament II - September 2024

This is an announcement for the second Combined Arms tournament. If you're interested either reply here or message on Discord.

As of right now the plan is as follows:

- To begin in conjunction with the release of v1.04 (which is mainly a bugfix release, with only minor balance changes), which is expected to be within the first week or two of September 2024.

- Group stage followed by a best of three, double elimination knockout, with best of five semi-finals and 3rd place match, and best-of-seven finals.

- 6 groups, 5 players per group. Total 30 players.

- Flexible schedule, where the brackets will be filled in as matches are played, and it'll be up to the players to organise their matches within a reasonable timeframe (will make a decision on what that is nearer the time). We have players in many timezones, and I'd prefer a longer lasting tournament where as many can participate as possible over a more restricted timeframe which excludes people.

- Prize pool currently £163.55 allocated as follows:

50% for 1st Place = £81.78
25% for 2nd Place = £40.88
15% for 3rd Place = £24.54
10% for 4th Place = £16.35

- Map pool: Krakow, Moldova, The Ruined Kingdom, Orage, Titan VIP, Quarry, Nomad, Harmony, Circulate, Crownsbury, Marigold Town, Onyx

- Semi-finals and finals to be streamed (unless it's impossible for some reason). Other rounds might be streamed via replays (or live if they're at convenient times).

Version 0.91 (now patched to 0.92) took a little longer than expected, as we implemented a new form of multi-queue which needed a fair bit of testing/balancing, but 68 devtests and 2 playtests later, it's finally done, so I'll be refocusing on getting this tournament organised. Still aiming for 16 players!

Just to clarify, it won't be on a specific date and time.

Basically the tournament will start when 1.04 is released, and the brackets will be posted, and then it's up to the players to arrange the matches whenever they're free, then as soon as one round is all finished, do the same for the next round. Up until the semi-finals where we'll start to try to arrange specific dates so those can be streamed.

Will just have to have some reasonable time limit before a match is considered forefit.

So a bit more like RAGL than the usual X-day tournaments.

The tournament currently has 29 players signed up. The limit is 32. Will be creating the brackets over the weekend, and the tournament will probably start on Monday 9th. So last call for anyone else who might want to participate.

Registrations now closed. The tournament will be starting with 30 players from tomorrow.

We've decided to do a group stage to begin with, which raises the minimum guaranteed games for each player from 4 to 8.

There'll be 6 groups of 5 players each, and each player plays every other player in the group twice. Top two from each group then proceed to double elimination knockout.
