Installing Command and Conquer Tiberian Dawn game content

Hello everyone,

I have checked following wiki pages and made several search in the forum & internet but I could not find answer to my question, so I dare to open a new topic for it. I know it is a basic question and I hope you tolerate me if it is a duplicate.

I am using Ubuntu and installed Openra without any problem. I mounted my First Decade image file via Furious ISO mounter but openra did not recognize it. So I have downloaded Command & Conquer Gold GDI and NOD ISO files from download page on cncnz.com. I have extracted them in some place and I can see mix files there.

I have copied all mix files in the GDI iso into /home/username/.openra/Content/cnc path except movies.mix file. I put that file into /home/username/.openra/Content/cnc/movies path.

Now when I run Openra, select "Tiberian Dawn", click "Manage Content", I only see "Base Game Music" is installed. "Base Game Files", GDI and NOD Campaign Briefings seem missing.

My purpose is playing Command and Conquer Tiberian Dawn campaigns again with all of its music, briefings and videos and playing multiplayer games from time to time.

Where am I doing wrong?

Should I only copy *.mix files or is there any other necessary file? It is not clear in the wiki as far as I can see.

And, there are mix files with same names in NOD disk as well. How will I copy them into the same path? They have the same names and they will be overwritten if I copy.

Im using windows so im not sure if the file path is different or not but the movies folder doesn't work. Place all .mix files into cnc/content even the movies.

Alright, thanks to help of pchote in #openra channel I tried to mount the ISO file as a loop device instead of a fuse device (I did this with the same application mentioned above) and then openra could recognize mounted ISO images and imported game content from both GDI and NOD images.

It is suggested to me that I should not copy game content manually.

Openra imported 9 GDI and 9 NOD missions. I asked this in the channel and following answers are given:

<dx486> GDI has 15 and NOD has 13 missions in the original Tiberian Dawn. Openra imported 9 for each.
<abcdefg30> dx486 yeah we need to recode them by hand
<clemmy> dx486: the missions can't be imported from the original TD game, scripts are re-created from scratch

I record it here for others who might wonder the reason for this.
