Non-random crate MCVs?

Post by zinc »

I was playing a game, and we destroyed this player's MCV. He got another one pretty much immediately in a crate. So we destroyed that one. Soon enough he got another MCV in a crate.

This isn't the first time I have seen players lose their MCV and then very quickly get another one.

I'm thinking that it isn't properly random?

It's very much like RA95 in that respect, likely a conscious design choice to give those unlucky players a chance to recover after losing their Construction Yard. Especially welcome in teamgames, where a very early rush can cripple a player if the ConYard is taken out and essentially win the game before it even begins.

CNC95 and RA95 had a chance of 50% to spawn an MCV if you didnt own one.

In OpenRA it seems to be 100%. Its exactly as Baron explains it for those reasons.

It's about 75% in our TD and ~50% in RA.

Crates unblance the game! They are like gamble they can duplicate your mamoth tanks of destroy them or they can spawn lots of MCVs which is a pain in the ass.

If you ask me,they should be removed from the game...

Yeah, if only there was an option in the lobby to turn them off or something.

Oh, wait...

My friend and i were looking at the YAML files and i believe he found that it is a 100% chance to get an MCV if you dont own an MCV, however this may have changed in the newest update

in other hand, asking to turn off crates means your enemy will immediately expect a rushing attack  or do the rush themselves, or at the funniest peak, move their MCV to your starting point (to rush you), while you also do the same (to rush him), and for somewhat reasons, your MCV didn't meet each others :D
OpenRA Nicks :
- Everything with "Blueblood" inside
- Yuelang (when I speak Chinese, literally)

My Ping might be Red... blame distance and my shitty connection due to which country I lived in...

I know, I mean admin(s) loves crates, loves to gamble their tanks so you will likely to play with crates :/

Reminds me of the time when a player rushed my base and then found a crate with an MCV during the first five minutes of a game.... it was devastating and hilarious at the same time. :)
