Re: Controlled Burn
If you make sure to take out the barracks at the top before it starts producing infantry that'll cut down on the enemy infantry production. Also save your spy and infiltrate barracks to gain infantry veterancy, which will buff your pillboxes a bit.

Re: What is the worst problem of Allies and why
Soviets always had more potential in terms of development. Dogs and hijackers being broken 'till now for example. I don't think we have as big of a disparity as when there were $400 pillboxes. Now that sovs have all their units fixed, (sans the MAD tank), it should be easier to balance. I say that, ...

Re: Balance thread for release 20190314
As I've started work on a narrowed down list of changes, I'd like to comment on an issue I've run into. Several people have favored removing the British spy and giving all Allied factions the Advanced Chrono as ways to spruce up the issues with Allied faction powers. Good ideas IMO, but the issue he...

Lots of love for the sniper drop so far; I'm not the one you need to convince though. I abandoned the idea due to a likely veto on the matter.

It would disappear when scouted, and wouldn't be re-shrouded until the MGG covers it again.lawANDorder wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 9:55 amMaking MGGs leave permanent shroud sounds scary, but interesting. Perhaps it could leave a trail of shroud that disappears after some time?

Balance thread for release 20190314
This will be a general balance thread for the current release cycle. What we're looking for from you, dear readers, is feedback on the state of balance for this release. I expect to see several opinions on hijackers and opportunity fire, but feel free to write down other ideas as well. I'll keep a r...

Re: Soviet Mission 8 - Investigate Elba Island Unbeatable on Hard?
I scripted this mission (sorry), so it is was hard to gauge difficulty as I wrote all the triggers and I've played the start 50+ times while debugging. I beat it by building up until just before you run out of ore in your starting area. Then, move out your MCV to claim the ore to the west. Tesla's b...

Re: Red Alert Global League: Season 6 - Post-Season Discussion
Imho it’s better if a small admin circle (probably mid tier players themselves) decides the map pool in all conscience (with some community feedback). I'd volunteer for a spot on the competition committee but I'm also the guy who came to see Patches as a viable competitive map. I know I'm th...

Re: End of 2018 RA balance changes
It appears we've got some consensus on 1) Tone down the hijacker and 2) Engi could use some extra oomph after the capture rework. Since we've at least got another playtest cycle to work with I'm leaning towards reducing the hijacker speed to 71 (same as Tanya and heavy tank) and reducing the enginee...

Re: End of 2018 RA balance changes
Also people have to get start getting used to HiJackers and develop counterplay strategies. Afterall this is an RTS and people gotta figure out how to react to this new style. Yep. I want to see a few weeks of playtesting before we say things have to change. This is the first time hijackers have be...

Re: End of 2018 RA balance changes
Here's a balance update: The changes listed as orb's at the start of this thread will not be in the first official playtest. We'll test those in modded maps instead. We're anticipating the need for two playtests here so the idea is if we can get consensus on any change we'll have that in playtest #2...

End of 2018 RA balance changes
Okay beautiful people, let's talk balance changes for the next official playtest. I'm sure many of you have noticed a lack of SMT maps this time around. I've been spending most of my OpenRA time trying to earn my Jr. Dev badge. However, through the magic of outsourcing [Orb] we're still getting some...

Re: Semi-competent port of allied counterstrike campaign
Thanks for working on this Seth.
I've taken what you've done as a springboard to try to get these missions into the official release. I've opened a pull request for the first mission and will try to tackle subsequent ones as time allows.
