And I guess a lot of the CPU strain comes from sitting in the lobby, where we cannot turn the shellmap off anymore like in previous versions. Why was that feature removed?
How did you succeed at making this small game use 100% cpu and cook my high end laptop?

The shellmap animation can be disabled through the Settings -> Display -> Pause Menu Background option.

Ok, tried that.Sleipnir wrote: Wed Mar 09, 2022 11:01 am The shellmap animation can be disabled through the Settings -> Display -> Pause Menu Background option.
It's way worse than the old "disable shellmap" option.
And it makes no difference, OpenRA already cooks my CPU in the lobby, even with paused shellmap. As far as I know it does this for everyone too.

I know, it's ridiculous. In my case I get high GPU usage. It doesn't make sense. Especially since, from what I've read, it didn't used to do that. I don't get it.
Re: How did you succeed at making this small game use 100% cpu and cook my high end laptop?
Hmm, I get 30-50% CPU use, which honestly isn't a lot (if you have more than one core, that is).

Did devs put a hidden bitcoin miner in this?

You can look through the code yourself at https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/.

sounds like a computer problem.
Newest release for me is like 15% CPU and 20% GPU

Ah see everyone there you go, like I said true colours revealed. you are even proving I was right about you the whole time. So, basically what you're saying is, you betrayed me for victory and you would be willing to sacrifice anyone to get it, that's all you seem to care about not other people. When we play this game with allies, are we just going to betray anyone who we think is not good enough to be on the team, is that what this community is? No, this would just make new players stop playing team games and it will be harder to make lobbies, this is what a traitor or a tyrant does, it is so stupid and a terrible thing to do. It's just a game as well, honestly whatever I am fed up of you, not going to deal with assholes online anymore, I cba I am wasting my time. Why should we care if you have a laptop problem? Screw you and your laptop.
