GPU+resolution = stuttering gameplay

I enjoy the occasional game of open RA, but my current desktop is struggling with the larger maps with multiple AI opponents. I've seen drops into the low 20 fps, and downright stuttering when I introduce >4 helicopters. I'm running the game on a pc with an AMD A10-8750 CPU, with built in "R7 class" GPU. and no dedicated GPU. All powering an AOC 25"Q2577PWQ (2560x1440) monitor.

I'm pretty sure that AMD APU, specifically the dinky GPU part, is the bottleneck, so this will be a factor in buying my upcoming new PC. But I'm struggling to find the GPU requirements for this game, especially for powering an 1440p monitor.

Faster is always better obviously, but I seriously doubt open RA needs a 3090? Are there any "best practices" regarding open RA?
