This is an announcement for the OpenRA Cameo Showcase Tournament. If you are interested in participating, please either reply to this thread or message us on the Cameo Discord (https://discord.gg/ZjpHWRYP)!

We are aiming for a player pool of 8–32 players. As of right now, the plan for the tournament is as follows:
Tournament Structure & Rules

-Schedule & Version: To begin in July 2026, played on the latest OpenRA Cameo release.

-Format:

-Phase 1: Swiss group stage rounds (2 games per round; 1 point per win, allowing for a 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2 record). Number of groups will depend on the number of players in total.

-Phase 2: Double-elimination knockout brackets for the top players advancing from the Swiss stage. Knockout matches will be Best of 3, Semi-Finals and the 3rd Place match will be Best of 5, and the Grand Finals will be a Best of 7 series (subject to final player agreement).

-Match Deadlines: A limit of 14 days will be given for matchups to be played each round. Opponents should contact one another promptly to arrange a time.

-If one player fails to show up or respond to an arranged time, and it cannot be rescheduled within the 14-day window, the player who did show up can choose their score.

-If neither player shows up, or no time is agreed upon within 14days, it will be marked as a 1-1 tie, but these scores will not contribute to the tie-breakers used to determine knockout placement.

-Activity Check: If 7 days have passed since a round starts and a player has completely failed to respond regarding scheduling while all other tournament matchups have been played, it will be considered a forfeit so the next round can begin.

-Faction Picking: To prevent blind counter-picking across Cameo's massive roster of factions:

-Group Stage: The first player listed picks their faction last in Game 1; the second player listed picks last in Game 2.

-Knockout Stage: The first player listed picks last in Game 1; the loser of the previous game picks last in all subsequent games of the series.

-Allowed Factions: Every player is allowed to pick each faction once during the tournament (every match counts), so they need to plan which faction they want to use in which order. Players are always free to use the "Random Tournament Faction" if they don't want to decide which faction to play. Allowed Faction Picks are all 24 featured factions (All factions that don't have the "WIP" tag)

-Dropouts: If anyone has to drop out mid-tournament, we will attempt to find a suitable replacement backup player. Otherwise, their remaining opponents will be awarded a default win.

-Fair Play: Fast-clicking macros/programs are permitted, but any advanced automation or scripting software is strictly prohibited.

-Streaming & Replays: Games will ideally be cast and streamed via replays (or live if schedules align). Please submit all match replays to the designated tournament channel on Discord.
