Changes in Fransbots 20260101;
-Three new bots; Duel, Fort and Civil
-One new faction; Zombies!
-Tweaks so the bots are more suitable for 5000 in starting cash.
-More minor tweaks...

Hi from Greece, Frans!
First of all a big thank you for the hours of fun you gave me playing with your bots. Excellent work! Really clever. Loved it!
However I only managed to play with the fransbots20250702.zip.
Both the newer versions fransbots20251116.zip & fransbots20260101.zip no matter what I do (clean install, install as an admin, different drive, content or no extra content, maps, etch) fail to launch the game. After double clicking the OpenRA icon, It just freezes in the loading screen and closes.
I am using the latest Release 20250330 of OpenRA, on windows 11 pc with AMD Radeon 7900 GRE Graphics on an AMD 7 7800x3d processor.
Anyone else has reported any issues on these two latest versions?
Thanks in advance!
M

Hi, I am sorry to hear. I will try to figure out what the issue is as its working fine on my installation. Maybe I have forgot to add a file or something in the zip-file. I will revert.

Hi, I can see the sequence folder is missing a file. I have uploaded a new version. Hope it works better for you!

Hi, thanks a lot for the kind words and once you get the latest version up running you will for sure not be disappointed.
And even better -once the devs release a new playtest I am ready to release another version which is close to mindblowing due to all nice features and upgrades they have done to the game(-engine).
Anyway,
There was a small error in the 20260101 version. I have now added the missing file -version 20260122 -try that one. Keep in mind that the old version the "ra" folder was compressed. The latest version contains a "fransbot" folder and then the actual ra folder.
I dont really get freezing issues when I make mistakes in files. It always crash with an error. Are you sure there are no errors in the background or a log that is created?

Hi, I just saw your AI script today and really want to use it for OPENRA.
But your fixed version still can't find fransbotskirmish.lua.
The root cause is the code in rules/world.yaml:
World:
LuaScript:
Scripts: fransbotskirmish.lua.
This LUA file is missing from your AI script, leading to crashes in skirmish mode. Could you look into this?

Yes, try 20260122ver2 I have added the "fransbotskirmish.lua" in that zip-file.

Great to hear! Let me know what you think about the bots after a few games. Do not forget to try the "Zombie AI"
I prefer large maps like "Europe and North Africa" (19 players) and free for all or add some "Civil or Fort AI" as teammates with the goal to have them survive. I also use the hotkeys to change the game speed as I am a rather slow thinker.

Definitely will do! Actually I already put the Fort AI as an ally, but did not had the time to complete the map. I like to play huge and slow too.
P.S. The Civil & Zombie AI, was the last on my list to try out, but who can resist on some juicy brainz
Thank you so much, again!

Hey fransotto, your work is a total game changer, really appreciate it. thank you
I recently switched to Linux Mint. My first project in this new world was to install, mod and run openra.
I figured out, when you install your mods on Linux, a little of - at least in Linux' perspective - a bit correction work needs to be done:
Yo need to change the file names of your yaml files to have them lower-case letters only.
e.g. airAI.yaml -> airai.yaml
baseAI.yaml -> baseai.yaml
Otherwise the game won't even start after installing the mod.
I've learned: Linux is case sensitive all over - maybe the penguin is right, nevertheless: the penguin seems to be very strict with it.
