"I'm going to concentrate on making an air force."
"You're at the front you idiot."
"Yeah well back me up then so I can build planes."

(2) Team mate decides to do a stream of nuke trucks, and repeatedly gets you blown up in the process.

Demo Trucks are a great way to unwind after a long day at work. :D

The ones who purposefully kill you in the middle of a game. And I mean that literally.

Uh, if that teammate of yours bear the name "Hermann Goring", you should know that this was historically accurate tactics  (abysmal performance though)

On maps which involve immediate base conflict, (e.g. convergence) and you get players that decide to build a couple of ore refinery before a barracks. They can cost you the game in the first minute and seem oblivious to team play.

People who quit (too) early. I've even seen some very good players do this (actually the better players seem much more likely to surrender) - they suffer a setback and bail instead of trying to recover. I'm fine with surrendering when the enemy controls 75% of the map or even things look really bleak, but don't quit as soon as you fall a little bit behind.

I really do hate this; i believe its because a lot of player's whole tactics are based around getting certain units out at certain time and if they fail that then they give up - its one of my personal "pet peevs" and im glad to hear someone else shares the same opinion.

I'm guilty of bailing too early on a game from time to time. It's usually for one of three reasons:

1) The craptastic nature of my day (let's say I lost a big sale) catches up with me at 10:00 pm. After having my MCV knocked out or whatever, enough is enough and it's time to call it a day. GG --> ESC --> Surrender --> Fridge --> Beer --> Sleep.

2) I can see from my team's build order / tactics, that an early setback is enough to make the odds of winning the game pretty slim. The scarcity of my leisure time makes playing a 30-minute losing game difficult to justify sometimes.

3) There have been a few instances of an important call coming in during a game. If somebody from the fam calls and sounds upset, you gotta go.

A team mate "pepe" killed me right at the start of a game after buidling off some troops. In the lobby for the next game, he then blames me for being the one that killed him when someone asked who the "teamkiller" was to get them kicked!

Sometimes you can turn games around that you didn't expect to win, but I will quit on games if they aren't going well. Big freaking deal. Why do people care that you play on in a game if you are very likely to lose anyway??

I just think people are being idiots when they sometimes moan about it.

Some players seem to feel cheated when you quit the game before they have the chance to kill all of your units. It's not about winning for them - it's about humiliating their opponents. I've run across a few "gentlemen" who openly gloat and insult you when you call GG and quit. Fortunately, they are pretty rare...

I allmost never quit (=abort mission) because I find it rude to my team and others.

When I think it is hopeless and continuing is pointless I will message my team saying that "we're done". If they don't respond then Ill play on for a couple minutes so they to see it is really lost. Ill then tell them again, and tell that I will surrender, and so I do.

If they then complain I sometimes explain we are really lost and continuing is pointless. Or I just go. I never abort mission as it is annoying for the opponent to clean up my base.

My biggest frustration in OpenRA are actually quitters:

1) we take 10 mins to actually start a game, then we're in 2/3 minutes and a player quits. Game is ruined.
2) I don't know about you guys, but my games with more than 4 players ALWAYS lag untill the barrack is built (+/- 1 minute?). They post: LAAAAGG and quit. After that first minute the game ofcourse runs smooth and they blew a f*ing game because they couldnt wait 1 minute...
3) The opponent loses and aborts mission instead of surrendering. Boohoo, you lost, big deal, just surrender.

I agree with 1+3. RE 2), I will wait about 90 seconds before quitting if there is significant lag, but it almost never improves. Some people definitely quit too early though.

It would be good to know if the person quit voluntarily or crashed as well, to weed out game ruiners more easily.

I think people are streaming or downloading while they wait in the lobby with the ready button ticked. Then when they hear the game start they stop connections.

Its the trolls who join and download for 20s at a time circumventing the 'player will be dropped' feature. Those and team killers. Only mod tools are available in the lobby.

It would be nice for a '!votekick <name>' feature ingame.
