Attention: Resource Center being flooded by duped cheat maps

Post by FiveAces »

Mister Edward Khil is at it again: The Resource Center has been flooded with 1:1 recreations of popular maps.

-The difference? They all have the same custom ruleset that allows for a bunch of stupid cheats, such as spawning 20 mammooths, invisible flamers, revealing the map or getting 50.000$.

-How to find out if it is a duped map?
If you are joining a game on a map that came with the release or has already been on your hard drive, but you have to install the map again for the game to start, it is 100% duped.

Kudos to whoever gets EdwardKhils IP-address!

The next release will give a warning when you join a server with a map that has custom rules. This will make it easier to spot cheat maps before the game starts.

Unfortunately my "Oil islands 3" is not at all popular. I think it plays quite well for a 3 player map however.

I'm of course not happy about this misuse of it.

How about this: Make map names unique. So there can be only one map with the same name.

Great to hear! This will solve the cheating issues.

It will help.

But what if someone is copying a map that already has custom rules? Then it could just appear to be a normal version of the map in question.

I did report one of the maps on the resources site but the maps are still up at this time.

What do you mean? The new map would have to have a different name.

That's a different suggestion. I was responding to something else.
