Upcoming video series: Promoting OpenRA

Post by SoScared »

The mission objective is to expand our player base. Now that OpenRA is beginning to experience less crashes and bugs with the latest playtests, I believe we can look forward to a new epic release pretty soon. Game balancing such as limited hero production (f u Volkov army), price adjustments and expanded menu controls and features makes me exited for the next release. I've been inspired to create a steady flow of gameplay footage, promos and whatever to reach an audience and perhaps increase the range of games in our game lobby. As I venture to learn more about video editing, I hope to contribute to our OpenRA community at the same time.

Feedbacks on the videos are much appreciated as I've been nubbing through the whole process from the get-go.

Also, if you know of any great games be sure to PM me! I'm always in need. Remember you can upload replay files at http://content.open-ra.org/ my profile: http://content.open-ra.org/?profile=54

Final Edit:
I started this post initially asking for someone to help me add some commentary with the play footage.

We could also use a small trailer for http://www.moddb.com/games/openra/videos The only video available there is quite boring and old.

Here we go! Nukem took on the challenging task of commentate the first released video. Great work considering the erratic game footage!

As much as I love watching myself play on youtube videos, I really need more neutral matches to work with. If you got some good watchable replays, please dig'em up and upload!
Also I hope to see a new tournament worked out soon:)

Not that easy to pronounce those strange German nicknames, but well commented Nukem. Nice game, interesting video editing and the HD quality is really beneficial to maintain the overview. I sadly spammed my replay folder with a billion 2 min. single-player test-games to debug things with incompatible dev version, but I will look for interesting stuff and attach it here.

Developer playthrough of Allies04 in playtest-20130304

Developer playthrough of Allies04 in playtest-20130304 with Scott who designed the mission. It features a great Apocalypse Now intro and a nice redshift palette mood filter now. We were chatting with the audience discussing if Scott should have his license to kill revoked because he shot a civilian in the village as well as if it is suspicious that an attack dog gets in a truck and drives away... so it is kinda slow-pace and needs some heavy cutting. It took us like 5 attempts to not end as dog-food in the first part so people where screaming STOP, DOGS NORTH, PATROL COMING all the time so I don't get eaten again. Scott does some nice micro-management with destroyers and he is probably the only one knowing what he is doing.
