[Solved] - How can I change the color / tileset of a map

Hello all,
I have a question is about this map "Six Below Zero" - created with the snow-tileset
I do like the layout of the map, but I do not the (too) bright white background color, so i am wondering:

A - Is it possible to turn the background color of the (tiles on the) map into the background color of another tileset (like the image below)?

B - Or must I start to rebuild this entire map, with another (background_colored) tileset from scratch ?

C - Is there a OpenRA (MapBulders / Moders) tool, which one can use to quickly change the background colors of a given tileset into another background color?

Why?
If i'm able to replace the white colored pixels(inside the snow.mix file) with another (green / redisch) background color,
inside all tiles in the snow.mix tileset, then this challenge is solved.

Thanks for your hints, tips and tricks..

Challenge solved! thanks Willow for your kind help and assistance on the Discord server.!

Here is what I did (with the help of Willow of course)
1. Search for the relevant map folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenRA\mods\ra\maps on Windows 7
2. Copy to [six-below-zero] folder into the same parent folder.
3. Renamed this copied folder to [Seven_Below_Zero].
4. Opened the map.yaml file in the [Seven_Below_Zero] folder.
5. Edited the following lines in the map.yaml file.
3rd line -> Title: Seven-Below-Zero.
5th line -> Change Tileset: SNOW into Tileset: TEMPERAT.

6. Saved the map.yaml file again to my harddisk.

-------------------------------------------------------------
10. Started OpenRA.
11. Switched to Map Editor.
12. Opened the map [Seven_Below_Zero] from the newly copied folder into the Map Editor.
13. Manually added the missing TEMPERAT tiles in the map. These are shown as black squares in the Map Editor display.
14. Saved the [Seven_Below_Zero] map to to my harddisk again.

En voila - See here the original map called "Six-Below-Zero" with a new temperat tileset look :-)

To be complete and to show that this method does not always work..

I change the map.yaml - Tileset from SNOW to DESERT and this is the result in the Map Editor
As you can see the entire waterway and all coast-lines need seriious reconstruction after this tile-set switch.

All this of course depends on the actual tilesets setup - for TEMPERAT and SNOW the reference values for tiles are almost the same and tilesets themselves are also look similar, hence this worked. I also did this to port Snakes and Ladders to TD https://resource.openra.net/maps/27712/

If it's the color brightness alone - map lighting is a thing now, so just use GlobalLightingPaletteEffect.

Thanks for the remark Graion. And No.. this is not about the map brightness alone.

As you can read above, I like the TEMPERAT tileset color more, since it makes it (for me) easier to spot my units against the green background.
That is the main reason for why i wanted to learn how to do the "color-cnversion" on any map bbuild with the SNOW tileset.

Do you have any documentation or map? script? example where I can learn more about this "effect"? since these are the only pages I was about
to scrape from the OpenRA github account and that alone is not enough "getting-started-material" for a Map Making noob like me

Notepad++ is commonplace for Windows. YAMLs are just shiny text files anyway - the reason plain Notepad wouldn't work with them, is because OpenRA uses Linux line ending and Notepad show the whole text as one really long line as a result.

I got used to Komodo Edit in the last few years myself though.

To complete this thread.. I've succeeded into changing the PitFight from SNOW tile-set into the TEMPERAT tile-set.
If you want you can see my 1st uploaded map here in the OpenRA Resource Center.

Enjoy :-)
