Hello everyone. I am here to officially announce my mod. It will be an enhanced edition of OpenRA, with more units, new music, and new sounds.
In already:
New sounds
New units (Phase (Stealth) Tank (Transport slot is, OP), Volkov)
General Enhancements (Tanya is no longer double owned, etc)
To Come:
Menu/Game Lobby Music (coding is being done by team)
New Music (Remixes and originals by Chicajo for Renegade Alert/A Path Beyond)
I still need to work out balance and bug issues. Eventually, a beta should be released. This is based upon RA, so you will need that content still.

Cool,
i would be proud to test this.
Any idea what kind of commando-unit the soviets get?
Keep it up!

Sounds good. I've created a similar mod (very early stages, needs some tweaking) which is based on RA and uses a fair amount of TD stuff to try and further balance things as evenly as possible between the factions, so if you need any TD SHP files you can download them from my SHP topic as they become palette-converted (you'll have to sequence them yourself though).
And of course, I'm always happy to test any releases.

Volkov is the commando unit. He is a cyborg. He is armed with anti tank weapons, and is capable of dealing with light infantry threats. He is immune to tanya's shots, but he is more vulnerable to rockets. He is also expensive, costing 1800 credits. He IS armed with C4 though, and if I add crushable infantry, he will NOT be crushable.

I would like to ask something to the community.
Do you agree that the RA voices are bland? What would you say if I was to put RA2 YR voices in there?
A few voices are almost perfect for certain units. The IFV is pretty good for the light tank, with a few modifications to the voice. A few might need to be edited, such as the chrono miner's. Some might have just the generic RA voice.
So, what do you think?

I personally prefer the RA voices. Many of the voices in RA2 made me want to grind my teeth down to the gums.

You can find a demo of sudden strike 3 with all sounds in it.
I also attached a small pack of them.

First you need convert your .ogg fto wav with this options:
22050 Hz
Mono 1
6-bit (PCM) wav-file
-good convertor is Media Coder .
Then download Red Alert-MiXer 5.1 OR3 from this site
Code: Select all
http://cncnz.com/downloads/redalert/utilities/
In command prompt type
wav2aud <wavdatei[.WAV]> [auddatei[.AUD]]
for example:
!!!Names of your converted .ogg must be smaller than 7 characters
PS:Sorry for my english

Heyho.
Thanks for the explanation.
I'll try it asap.
I wonder how to get new .aud files ingame.
Do i have to put them in the sound.mix ?
Or mod.yaml?
I'll try both.

Actually, you need to add them to sound.yaml and voice.yaml. You can leave the .aud files out if you want.
Also, I use XCC mixer, it converts well.

Looking through the files, it looks like I am going to need to remake this for 0727. Oh well.
I made a new working title, Red Alert: Reloaded. This is overused to death, but it is a little better. I will think of a better name later. The mod comes first.
I would like to add the RA campaign to this mod. If all goes well, there will be four acts. 2 Original, 2 Expansions. One bonus campaign might come in as well. I can tell you that It came from Red Alert, but that is it.
Eventually, I would like to move onto moddb. But that is far fetched, maybe later.

I am also considering adding RA countries with bonuses. Of course, that would be a little hard. Here is what I had in mind:
Soviet Union:
Ukraine: Enhanced Engines (Unit speed +10%)
Russia: Tank Armor (Unit armor +18%)
China: Conscription (-15% troop cost)
Allied Nations:
Germany: Tank Mechanics (Tank speed and armor +8%)
Greece: Protection (Building armor (excluding defenses) +20%)
England: Hold Line (Unit Strength +10%)
France: Heavy Defense (Defense Strength and Armor +15%)
Have better ideas? Post them below.

I've done something similar. Well alright, it's not really similar at all other than I've added countries and given them each a unique vehicle and infantry unit each. Maybe a mix of both unique attributes (are these even possible without creating several clones of units with altered stats?) and special units would offer greater distinction and range of playstyles for each country?
