How to safe quality art after resizing?

Post by Aner1181 »

Hi guys,

I faced with the issue during resizing D2K art in XnView (in IrfanView I have the same results). Resampling image option is off. Can you help me with the question how to avoid this quality loss?

Use GIMP or Photoshop - it looks like the upscaled image falls back to the classic 256 color palette of the internet and not using the one it image had embedded in itself.

I think Gimp and Photoshop is too powerful instruments for such simple operation. I tried to go with IrfanView bach conversion option, but looks like I need to change some options. I will be appreciated if somebody will help me to manage this.

I try to go with this options:

Wait a sec, you're actually downsizing? Then I did said it right - you should not expect a simple tool understanding and handling palettes properly - and only Gimp/Photoshop has the closest pixel or how it's called method which maintains the colors and does not do the aliasing resulting with this problem.

ACDSee might also have it though - I remember that one having multiple resize methods and I use it as my simple image batching tool for a decade, but it's been a while I checked it out.
