What is the purpose of these color squares? In Map Editor.
Why are they needed?

The idea is to mark areas so that you can make symmetrical maps etc.

So these color squares are visible only in Map Editor. Right?

Yes, there are just a tool to help you create more symmetrical maps, or to help map creation in the planning stage
