Best resource for install troubleshooting?

Post by bamboozler »

Hi, I'm fairly new to Linux. I've tried multiple methods for installing OpenRA. Done the Appimage recommendations on the main site - results in a "fatal error" when trying to run. Used SnapD. Used Lutris. Installed and tested Mono which worked with the hello world test. The closest thing I've gotten is the Snapd launch attempt where it shows the sickle and hammer star symbol next to my cursor for a moment, then my screen flickers and nothing happens. I'd really love to play this but googling I can't come up with what my issue might be. I'm on an older intel laptop with integrated graphics, i386 architecture. I found out my graphics was why I can't run starcraft 2, which crashes minutes into campaign missions and on the launch of multiplayer. Any knowledge or advice is much appreciated.

Also I originally tried the installs with Mint. Now I'm using Kubuntu.

N: Skipping acquire of configured file 'main/binary-i386/Packages' as repository 'https://download.mono-project.com/repo/ubuntu stable-focal InRelease' doesn't support architecture 'i386'

not sure if the N: alert at the bottom is significant. I get this when I update.

The problem seems to be that your architecture is i386, a 32bit architecture, while OpenRA requires 64bit. The only thing you could try is compiling the source code yourself, but it is not guaranteed the GPU isn't going to cause problems.
