Hello,

In order to speed Tiberium's Sun engine branch development, I suggest that community developers use this site (example): https://www.patreon.com/ to finance their development, which will add a source of motivation. I'm sure you'll get a lot of funding.

Regards,

We do not take direct donations since EA still holds the IP rights. We have a Patreon page for our server infrastructure (which is not involved with any IP from EA): https://www.patreon.com/orahosting
(See also https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/wiki/Donating )

Does EA have IP rights on the engine you develop? Or only on the tiles/sounds? Can't the funding be for engine development only?

I support now "orahosting" but I would have liked to support development too (like other people I'm sure).

@abcdefg30: Are these facts somewhere (legally) documented about:
I don't think so. EDIT: See below.

Not to the engine. But we're still working on and distributing Red Alert, Tiberian Dawn and in the future Tiberian Sun, and anything that looks like we are taking money for that is a potentially dangerous game - one we don't want to play with a large corporation like EA.

They have to be, and publicly available. that's the purpose of copyright and trademarks. I just don't know where...

Of course for interpreting those, you have to be an attorney. Are you an attorney, Ronald?
Let's not play with people who can afford a bunch of them.

Ah well, I thought this was asking if *we* did document anything like that.

Not sure if you are aware, EA just OpenSourced the updated original cnc/ra engine source code with C&C remastered. (Which is very cool, all hail EA)
They had the power to reveal the previously closed source, so it was theirs in the first place.

OpenRA is, as far as I am aware a completely new program from scratch, and is under a GPL license.
See https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/blob/bleed/COPYING

OpenRA is not(!) the original game engine. OpenRA only uses the Artwork from the cnc/ra game and simulates how the original behaves.

hey mate, it would be great if you added a key to disable off mode invisibility stealth tanks, because they 've problems while attack, specially aircrafts in vanilla TS

We used https://www.bountysource.com/teams/open ... _ids=36085 in the past to manage bug bounties, but it didn't work out. People put few dollars on hard or unsolvable problems which only caused frustration on both sides. The concept needs proper project management and does not really work in a hobbyist environment.
