How do you play LAN in 2019

I thought I would challange my brother in OpenRA over Christmas. We will both bring our laptops.
How do we get a LAN qoing? Or is it only possible to play over the internet?

LAN games should just work, with no special configuration: The first player creates a server using the "Create" button at the bottom of the MP server list (keep the "Advertise Online" checkbox deselected), and other players will see it in the server list with a "Local Network" location.

Just implicitly checked that it works when testing some things with 2 simultaneous clients.

And would this work with us just connected by wifi? Or do we need a cable?
Haven't played locally since 2008 or something.

As long as you're in the same local network it shouldn't matter if you use wifi or cable. So yes, if you are using wifi from the same router it will work.

I would just like to say that it worked great! No problems. We used our laptops over at our parents house on their wifi.
