Here are some my advice:
1. New Engine like Westwood 2D but much better than it, more realistic and more powerful, I don't like SAGE engine, it looks awful.
2. Easily Modding, please provide a mod IDE can make maps, write scripts event coding hints like in Visual Studio
3. Ares Support, Ares is a powerful enhancement to the original Westwood 2D Engine, if you guys can re-implement it in new C&C Game(or import Ares in new C&C game), it will be nice.
4. Open Source, an open source engine will be more popular, can detect and fix bugs easily

None of those would happen.
EA is never going to open source anything or support 3rd party patches like that.
There is a chance they might do mod support (however unlikely that is) but it wont be to the degree you suggest.
And its unlikely they are going to produce a new 2D engine, its all 3D. Unless they decide to go back and use/modernize the SAGE engine (i.e. C&C3/RA3/C&C4), the most likely engine for them to use is Frostbyte (which is what they were using for the now-canceled Generals 2 project).

3D Engine is fine, but don't be awful like RA3

As for Open Source, if can be open source, that will be fine, if not, then forget it

I mostly care about the new engine and modding support

Unfortunately, today`s popularity of RTS is only a shadow of it had been before.

If EA is going to make a remake of C&C games, then...
What if we take a little more bold step and pick the forgotten one, battle royale game of Command and Conquer, Sole Survivor?
If EA can revive Sole Survivor as modern battle royale, then they can definitely show that they are caring C&C and is fitting as the master of C&C IP.

Come on, I mean it! At the time of original Sole Survivor, the industry didn`t have much great ideas on battle royale games. now we have seen PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS. Let`s imagine elements of Sole survivor imported to PUBG. Can you see what I see?

Players spawn as technicians. they descend on an island and farm to be the sole survivor.

For gears, there can be*:
BDU, Kevlar(armor and helmet), Chem suit, Commando set

weapons:
assault rifle(if not minigun), hand grenade, flamethrower, rocket launcher, chemical spray, sniper rifle
*you may try adding Renegade weapons and gears

Depending on the map setting, there can be various vehicles on the field.
Name any ground vehicle of C&C, from buggy to mammoth tank and SSM Launcher.

Over time, tiberium will grow from outskirt of the map and reduce safe zone. Persons and open vehicles can easily get out of the danger zone, but will suffer greatly once caught. Heavy-armored vehicles are less affected, but you will see visceroids chewing up your armor if you don`t get out early. visceroids are near-invincible on the tib zone.
If this would be too demanding on hardwares, then a simple ion storm would do, but tiberium and visceroids will totally rock.

Ground barrage from PUBG? we have Ion cannon and airstrike for that. Ion cannon was also featured in Sole Survivor, as a losing ticket of crate reward.

And if the map is funpark, then you can be.........dinosaur!

Isn`t it tempting?

The Red Alert Online "Sole Survivor" MMO RPG game would be awesome! Only with 2d graphics and not having lootboxes.

Since Electronic Arts (EA) is following this. I decided to make a account today and say what I want from the Command & Conquer video games remastered along with a Command & Conquer 5 and a Command & Conquer Renegade 2.

All the Command & Conquer video games remastered from Command & Conquer, Command & Conquer Red Alert, Command & Conquer Tiberiun Sun, Command & Conquer Red Alert 2, Command & Conquer Renegade, and Command & Conquer Generals to have all their FMV or cut-scenes done in 1080P for those of us still on 1080P monitors and 4K for those of us on 4K monitors.

Removal of GameSpy and Westwood Online and add a better Anti-Cheat system replacing GameSpy like using FairFight and BattlEye.

No microtransactions, No loot boxes, and no DLC's.

For Command & Conquer 5 make it more to Command & Conquer Tiberiun sun I feel is better, but can go like Command & Conquer 3 seriously ignore Command & Conquer 4. Make maps be big in Command & Conquer 5 let there be up to 64 players be able to play on a map that big.

No microtransactions, no loot boxes, and no DLC's in Command & Conquer 5. Make proper expansion packs that are at least 10 hours long and release something like 3-4 of them for Command & Conquer 5 if you want to sell them for $50 dollars (USD).

For Command & Conquer Renegade 2 make maps big enough to support 64 players, maybe a battle royale mode can work for Command & Conquer Renegade 2?

And again no microtransactions, no loot boxes, and no DLC's, just make and release for sale proper expansion packs something like 2 of em for Command & Conquer Renegade 2.

I always wanted Battlefield sized maps for Command & Conquer Renegade.

Full modding support for all of the Command & Conquer video games.

Sadly this is very true. While I would probably buy a new RTS title in the CnC series, I can't see many new people buying into it.

EA/Westwood has 2 very original concepts that would be a shame not to develop upon. A lot of people here have mentioned them as well.

Renegade
The concept behind Renegade is very different from traditional FPS games and while being older than some of modern classics, its format has never really been expanded upon or even touched by the mainstream. I have a feeling Renegade is a game only RTS/WW people know about.
A new Renegade release, with all the EA bells and whistles, has the ability to penetrate the mainstream and bring life to an original FPS format that has been derived from RTS. It definitely has the ability to go competitive and have potentially a long life too if it can also work well with smaller teams (~5 a side).
Sole Survivor
The other original concept, that would be a shame to see not brought back to life, is Sole Survivor. I can't comment too much on it but I can see it being a casual and competitive experience that could potential bring in a lot of new blood. It could easily lay the basis of a battle royale or even MOBA in the same vein as Battlerite or Dota (if you can make it work).

while thinking on it I managed to come up with 2 more things I would like to see if a remaster is being done.

for the love of god please add attack move commands; that was the most annoying thing about the old games in both universes. you had to give the stop command or wait for your units to stop moving for them to shoot. or you would "inch" them forward into the fog of war. just add a attack move command. even starcraft had an attack move command (although the units liked to "track" units no longer in their sight because reasons)

the second thing...allow us to queue units & structures its annoying to have to sit there an recruit each unit one by one.

I'd like to specifically re-iterate some of the points in this discussion.

1. Make it so that C&C4 had never happend. At all.
2. Make it so that C&C3 Scrin have never happened. At all.
3. Follow through on the post-Firestorm design direction on tiberium, factions, units and atmosphere.

A game or re-hash that follows these rules should even survive microtransactions (but don't do those either, it irritates people).

lol yes, C&C 4 need not be mentioned. C&C3 scrin were sooo underwhelming. Scrin were so mysterious but then they turned out to be this generic semi advanced zerg rip off insectoids. C&C 3 really was the most competent C&C entry out of EA imo, but what Westwood had in store for C&C 3 would have been glorious.

Could you give us some input on feasibility and what you're taking for realistic in the short term?

To EA_Jimtern

When renegate came out I was expecting to be an fps game mixing the rts, while was fun to play as a foot soldier in the tiberium universe and see it from close there was something that was missing for me, that was the rts part. Years now I am waiting for a game to fulfill that role.

Many games tried that but none made it in the correct way. And the correct way for me at least is the following:

Have one rts commander for each side, the commander will play as it was an rts game (also be able to get out and inspect the base or even help out if the situation is desperate, like a heroic last stand),EDIT* build bases defenses AND most importantly command units!
Not bots but simple units that attack what is in their range, the rest of the players will act as commando units and even have the ability to form squads with players or unscripted npc's who will follow and execute their roles (medic, mechanic ect).

The players will be task by the commander to finish missions, for example capture a tiberium spike to earn more money for the team.
Then the commander can reword those missions with bonuses (a special weapon only obtainable from doing a missions) or money.

The commander must be able to build every thing from walls and gates to mcv's and ore refineries., in order to expand and hold vital positions in the map.

commander camera and view over the battlefield: because adding realistic sizes to tanks and buildings will unfortunately make it hard for the commander to see the infantry units, the buildings\vehicles must be a bit smaller and bulky than expected, take an example from the pc game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. the sizes are perfect.

The maps must be easy to make by the community.

Now Imagine walking in the battlefield and see all around you an unscripted battle taking place, watch mammoth tanks saving the day, or a squadron of Apaches flying above your head and engaging incoming tanks. Imagine a situation with you and your team mates waiting for the Chinook that you requested by the commander to come and evacuate you and your soldiers while the enemy throws every thing at you! and then taking off while the commander moves the Chinook to a safe location or one of your team mates takes direct control over it and tries something crazy!

This Is a game I am waiting for years now. I hope EA_Jimtern reads this and come up with a reply (probably it will be a "we are not going to make that game") But hey At least I know that the right ears have listen to my idea,I did my part now I can relax and wait.

Just a question to Vessella: Will we see some EA-related games that are still not on origin? RECOIL is one of the EA games that is not available on origin, i asked a question about it and i think it's possible to bring that 1999 game with the original CD-ROM, from what i know about the game versions, only the pirated version has no OST, while the original has OST.

Really can't wait to see the game remaster, i already suggested to bring back one cancelled game: Renegade 2: Battlegrounds.
