I have seen this discussion regarding User accounts in past posts and i do belive it all boils down to money? Correct me if am wrong. If Sleipnir would care to comment.

I would also like to see these accounts linked to an elo skill rating system. It would nice feature, I personally would love to have a visual of my progress in game. it would also help towards balancing team games and all games in general.

If it all boils down to money. I think it would be great if we could get a figure regarding how much it would cost to impliment. I think we have a great community here and even if it took years to reach the goal via donations it's time and money well spent. It's something I would certainly donate towards.

Elo rating ingame would sure be useful. Also, option to start games in ranked or non-ranked mode. Player rating would only change in ranked games.

Correct me if I am wrong, but IIRC the user account system development is currently on hold - not due to money - but due to sheer manpower neccessary to implement it. pchote has been working on in in the recent weeks, albeit alone. It is currently on hiatus.

If your correct Jazz it seems the project has lost steam. If we all put our heads together surely we can come up with a plan to get something back into motion ?

Doomsday I like the idea of the option to turn the elo scoring on or off. for play tests, general goofing about and what not. Would be pretty cool if it was pinned for all competitive matches IE Global league and tournaments. It would just become problematic if your sat alone in a lobby waiting for someone to play a competitive game because people maybe be scared to lose points

I think the devs method was to only make specific servers official and record statistics or count towards a rank.

#2265 is the github ticket for it. Many of the details of how the ranking will work is not explicitly detailed anywhere except the IRC logs (good luck finding them) or in my own head.

Looked over all the chat they look pretty hard pressed. I'll just leave them to it As long as the idea isn't gathering dust am happy
