Marn's Maps!!!

Post by Marn »

Hello, I am fairly new around these parts and mostly thanks to 5Aces I decided to poke my head out.
Decided to give a map editor a go the other day, tried keeping as balanced as possible.
I might make more eventually, who knows.
Give it a shot, and drop your thoughts.

Maps so far:

I attempted to remake Isle of War from RA2 as much as I could, here is the end result.
Dry bridges don't exist in RA1 so I improvised.
And thanks to everyone who gave a shot to the first map :)

Thanks :)
After this one I should start working on the originals again U:

Yet another remake but from a different game this time, not one to one as the scale would be ridiculous but ah well. Naval is a must in this one.

I decided to give a shot to a TD map.
This one was originally made as a 1v1 map but it was big enough to be a 2v2, so I changed it last minute.
As a result, this map works well for both 1v1 and 2v2.
Role based top vs bottom, the back players are generally safer but start with a smaller Tib field.
A single blue blossom is in the middle but without any Tib field to prevent MCV rushing.

Thanks for testing anjew :)

Meanwhile, I was busy on making a map for RA again.
A 2v2 top vs bottom map style, relatively open and chokeless (or at least that was the goal)

Side Step Dune (Edition) looks marvellous. It shall be tested out the next time SS does a Thunderdome Dune match, I can already see that happen! :D

EDIT: Could need a little bit more spice in the top-left and buttom-right corners to make those expansions slots a little more viable.

The corners - topleft and downright, have hills on the brim of the map. A little accessible patch on the brims allow construction yard vehicles to silently enter them.

Yeah, I thought about that when I was making the map just wasn't sure if people would be on board with that. Now that I know that people are fine with that idea I made some changes :)
Those corners are now a legit expansions with enough space to build, and enough spice to live off of comfortably. 50k of spice and a bloom for both corners to be exact.
Look at the updated screenshot above.

The spice in Dune runs out much slower than in RA. I think the main base can use a little less spice for that reason, I don't think you'd need to expand on this map as it is now.

Also, needs more crashed spaceships IMHO.... ;-)

For the rest: super awesome D2k maps = win win win.
