How to make France more appealing for players

Sniper as a support power sound much more reasonable than as a normal unit. Then again, how would that fit into the "theme" of france?

french civilians you can only build in 5er squads, La Resistance!! but planting bombs and shooting is something Tanya already can. So we need different abilities.

That would turn them into more of a strategic element.
I'm not a fan of raw statistical increases as a faction trait, and this would add to the gameplay imo.

Maybe switch their theme over to "Guerilla warfare"?

That would tie in with both the obfuscation (mobile gap/fake structures) and ambush tactics (Sniper drop).

Hijacker and Sniper, France should have stronger infantry in general?

I like these changes! Fake structures will be better concealed with a clever health bar that drops like a real structure. This encourages the deception plays that I've hoped for, and actually witnessed some players try out lately. Also a big health buff to the fake Nuke Silo and Chrono (pdox?) will make France very tech resilient in the late-game.

Another idea (from reddit): a shroud generator!

France has a gapgenerator that has a small radius at first, but it grows over time!

France seems to be lacking attractive attack units. Gap Generators and fake buildings are fun, but you also want to attack to be winning games.

I use a cost-effective Special Forces infantry unit called (not surprisingly) the Legionnaire for France in my game. Doesn't completely offset the game (not-Tanya), but gives them a slight boost in the infantry game.

There was another female character included in the original game but she was disabled/dropped.

the GFX files for that unit should be fairly easy to find and use



there are quite a few civilian types in the original game, maybe one of those could be repurposed ?
