This has probably been mentioned before, but a 'No Nukes' option in the lobby would be pretty nice, just to measure the true advantages/disadvantages between sub-factions. Just played a mid-tech game of 3v3v6AI, and it turned into something of a stalemate because we knew exactly what the enemy was capable of with no surprises (making the idea of sub-factions somewhat pointless/useless).
While nukes are generally good ways to create a 'turning point' in difficult battles, sometimes it's fun to check out who can come up with a devious strategy which doesn't involve dropping a 50mt warhead on some poor bastard.
Quick suggestion [RA]
But that doesn't apply when you change the tech level already??Jimather wrote: ↑Yes it's been mentioned before.
If you google 'openra no nukes option' then you will see github pages discussing it.
The long and short is that nukes are part of the game balance and if you remove that you basically have a new game to balance.

Yeah, that was immediately what crossed my mind. It's not as though having the "no nukes" option would remove them entirely from the game either, it'd just be there as a choice for private servers.zinc wrote: ↑But that doesn't apply when you change the tech level already??Jimather wrote: ↑Yes it's been mentioned before.

Furthermore, surely the double-owned superweapon (an endgame tech) being part of the overall balance means that everything else would play out as normal anyway?

But... so what? (dont mean that offensive) if people decide to play without nukes and the game is slightly (cant be alot) unbalanced then that is up to them.Jimather wrote: ↑Yes it's been mentioned before.

I'd like this option as well, even though I like nukes.
