Thank you for putting all this work into this game / these games :-)
I'd like to play very much.
However, I can't get this game going.
Maybe due to German version, I don't know.

So here's what I did:
Downloaded latest version.
installed.
Game asks for for CD or download.
Insert German RA CD.
Installs.
Works.
Load D2K Mod.
Game asks for D2K CD
Insert German D2K CD.
Installs.
Error during initializing process when game says "bredding sandworms"
Restarting the game makes it start in D2K-Mod, not in RA-Mod.

Uninstall. Reinstall.

Game already has data from CDs. Doesn't ask for CD again.
Game starts in D2K-Mod.
Error during initializing process when game says "bredding sandworms"

Uninstall. Reinstall.

Manually delete D2K-Mod folder.
Start the game.
Game starts in RA-Mod.
Game doesn't ask for CD, already has all the stuff.
Try Tiberian Dawn.
Game asks for CD
Select DOWNLOAD FORM INTERWEBZ
Works.
Lod D2K-Mod.
Same problem as before.
This time, read description in error msg:
VIEW FAQ talks about log files.
Can't find folders. Don't exist.
VIEW LOGS-Button generates an error msg telling me path doesn't exist.#

Uninstall. Reinstall.

Manually delete D2K-Mod folder.
Start the game.
Game starts in RA-Mod.
Lod D2K-Mod.
Game crashes like before.
Manually delete D2K-Modfolder.
Start game.
Game crashes at once, doesn't even show loading screen.

What's going on!?

Using WinVista, German Version.

Tried "portable version" checked and unchecked.
Doesn't make a difference.

Never do a portable installation into protected folders such as Program Files. I guess that is the error the whole time, because it explains why OpenRA is not allowed to extract files nor write logs. I think we want a fallback there as this seems to be a common rookie mistake. You don't want to start OpenRA with administrator rights or have it fail because of permission problems.

I have never checked the German Dune 2000 CD, just the US one. However with some luck it could just work.
