Is there any hope for Intel 945(GPU) to run the game?

Post by tonyjty »

It seems that Intel 945 just can't get along well with openra.Shall I still wait for update of openRa or just wait for update of my computer?
By the way, has anybody reported that he successfully runs the programme on Intel GMA 950 so far?

You should be able to run the latest playtest version on GMA950 using the alternative Cg renderer.

Make sure you have the latest drivers installed, and then add to the end of your OpenRA shortcut:

Graphics.Renderer=Cg

Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case. See this post, for instance.

The logs refer to 20110723, but 20110727 crashes in a similar way.

I'm sorry to report that it won't work. The exception.log didn't change at all

May I ask which operating system you are running?

Linux runs OpenRA with Cg renderer on GMA950, yes. Windows does not (last time I checked, release 20111013).

See also ticket 988.

Ah ok. Linux OpenGL drivers support the necessary extensions (as in my case with the 950).

And the X4500 drivers are "much better" than those for the older series of cards, so that explains your experience on Win7.

Found this on the ubuntu forums

sudo apt-get install nvidia-cg-toolkit

allows the game to run for me on an eeepc 901 running mint 10, early play test it lags horribly but hey at least its better than a console error message!
