FPS Issues

First, thanks for the great game: high rez, rebalanced version of Red Alert is a great service for the humankind.
And now to the point.
The game runs fine. Too fine actually. Framerate being 250 or so... This is an issue because it causes my laptop to overheat. So, is there any way to limit it to 60 (or preferrably to 40 like Minecraft's power saver mode)?
(And, is there some way to add music to the game?)

Sorry but does that FPS cap thing work in Windows (Vista if that matters)?
Using latest stable version, do i need to download a playtest version (or whatever it was called on the main site)

The playtest version is prefered. You need to download sources of the latest playtest:

then use those cap frame rate patch before compilation. You may also wait and it will be included in the new playtest probably.
I didn't test it on Vista. But it works on Linux without any problems. I tested it on WinXP SP3 too, but I have an ancient video card on that PC, so it didn't give me more then 50 FPS. But it worked from 1 to 50 FPS well. Theoretically it may have problems on Windows, especially if the framerate is bigger then 67 FPS. Give it a try.
