Dune 2000 does not install via appimage

Hello, I am on Ubuntu and cannot get the appimage to work for Dune 2000. The program freezes at 'Install Content' when I launch the appimage. (advanced install, quick install, quit), None of the buttons work. It lags forever. How do I get the program to work and get Dune 2000 to function?

I am going the appimage route, tried to install from command line, no joy. Tried from package install, same thing. How to get Dune 2000 to work?
