"No valid techniques" is a cryptic way of saying that the game can't start OpenGL for some reason or another. Can you run other OpenGL apps without problems?

I don't think anyone has tried running under wine before, so i'm not sure what your problem here is.
We have a fix in progress for x86_64 and our linux packages, so if you can wait a couple of days you should be able to run natively without problems :)

Yes, you can play over lan, but the server browser will not work.
If you know the ip and port of the host, you can connect directly to it over lan using the Direct Connect feature.

You don't need to forward any ports if all the machines are in the same lan.

Did you install the packages from our server, or from the original disks?
If its from the disks, then speech.mix is contained within main.mix for ra, and cnc SPEECH.MIX (and all other packages) need to be renamed to lower case.

It looks like someone with an old build is joining your game, and causing it to instantly desynchronize.

A fix for this is being worked on, and will appear in one of our next releases.

Could you post your server.log and exception.log from one of these crashes?
We've heard a lot of people mention these crashes, but I haven't yet seen any logs, which should point us toward the cause.

You probably need to install the SDL and Cg dependencies manually - we don't ship these in the source packages/repo. I believe we give instructions and urls in the INSTALL doc.

In my experience, this can happen if you're running mono in debug mode and the game throws a managed exception.

Did you install the Cg package manually, and disable Compiz if it was running? If yes, please follow the steps in the FAQ to check if you have an exception.log.
