Though Smitty is relatively new to the game (i think 1 year at most?) after reading his balance threads I think he would be a good choice for "community head balance mgr". His suggestions aren't too radical (except that experimental naval rebalance...mistakes were made ^^) and most importantly well...

Minor detail about the stances: I thought OpenRA is about keeping the game close to its original, while modernizing the gameplay. So adjusting the gameplay to make it more similar to the original doesnt really make sense. Unless it turns out the original gameplay is actual better ofcourse than in t...

If this falls under the path of re-imagining RA while keeping it faithful to the original, I promise you that people aren't going to remember nor care about stances. The only reason people are liking this change is because of the new A-move, not because of the stance system. In the new playtest, the...

I will reiterate my previous thoughts on this... I can see why people would like to have different types of A-move; it gives casual players the illusion that they're doing something strategical. In reality, the "Attack Everything" stance is just a "one-click button" to raze buildings down AFTER you'...

I'm experimenting with a super MGG that takes vision away from buildings and infantry completely. I discovered that this will prevent the shrouded units from attacking first, but if they were fired upon by something within their original RevealsShroud range, they will track that particular unit and...

Defender's advantage is a very complicated thing to balance. In my view, the defender's advantage should not be permanently 60/40 in favor of the defender; the tables can start at 60/40, but both players should have multiple options to turn the odds in their favor. At the moment, the easiest way to ...

I will be adding the "Smart" Attack move in response to the new merges. Will this just make units attack units instead of buildings? Or will you actually incorporating a priority targeting list for each unit? Unfortunately, the former. It's basically going to be my mini test that involved adding Au...

I also found that the Ukraine Dome superpowers are lost when there is no deployed MCV on the field...gonna need to fix that later. I haven't had much time lately to play, but I did find a WithInfantryBody trait that might be interesting to adjust if I can figure out how to play around with sequences...

I agree with you. Furthermore, walls can feel even more unfair to use on choky maps (such as Behind the Veil), where I don't allow myself to build walls on it (except on the original base). It can be a legitimate and powerful tactic, no doubt, but I feel it removes all the fun of the game. And actu...

Was able to get a good amount of games today. Some things I can say for certain: - The pros of having BlocksProjectiles on tanks far outweighs the cons. - Many of the new options are built on top of the currently existing options; so while it is possible to invent a new build, the standard eco/MCV u...

Overall, in my opinion, these games are 100% more interesting to watch than the current game, and there is so much more potential that has yet to be unlocked. I especially liked how the transitions were smooth and natural; the early game was infantry dependent, then it switched to infantry/vehicles,...

Hey, i wanted to test this too but there are only 1on1 maps. Would be nice if you add a tournament island version, i usually use it for balance tests. I get lazy adding these changes to multiple maps, especially since I wouldn't really consider this a final release (multiple upload to the resource ...

I give you a replay of my third game on it : I'm playing against a smurf of a player that usually beats me. On the replay you can see him play the classic meta way, mass infantry, expention, ect. I played on purpose an early flak/tesla build in order to have a mobile force to kite with the objectiv...

I've tried messing around with it, making sure the conditions are right and that the logic is clear, but I can't spot the error because behavior is very strange. With my current setup, all the projectiles pass through the sand bag as long as the rifleman is standing 2c0 or farther. But when the rifl...
