@kyrylo With regards to that particular post of mine, I deleted a very long post that would've derailed the thread from the beginning, so I replaced it with the few lines that you quoted. AoA and I have had very long and fruitless conversations on multiple threads, and I didn't want to start another...

You can fix the base pushing. Its actually easy. Problem is its become the base gameplay of RA. The first, and less important one is, "What are you going to do about the other problems?" The second, and much more pertinent one is, "Are you creating any new problems?" Other problems are game by game...

I'm not trying to say 1 game between 2 people is representative of how this change looks like, but for those who actually watch the replay I attached, do you see the can of worms that something like this would open? The respective map is in the post above. Not sure about gradual building radius incr...

Getting rid of auto-target on unarmed buildings was also mentioned somewhere, but this would massively buff A-moving because every shot fired would be at something that can shoot back. I feel this is one of the few options that addresses a lot of your 20 points. Have any more thoughts on it? I ment...

Not an expert player, but my take on it, based on what others are saying and my own taste. For me expanding and basepushing are two different things. Expanding is going to another place in order to secure economy (or secure a strategic place). Basepushing is attacking the other player's base with t...

Out of curiosity, are you guys actually pro-basepushing? The way I read this is that basepushing is only a problem because its strong, so you want to nerf it a little bit? Are you actually saying that basepushing is integral to OpenRA RA? Something that doesn't get mentioned enough is that "basepus...

Ugh. I should just delete that stupid list. The purpose of that list wasn't to enumerate every single strength of basepushing. It was supposed to show people that one change aimed at basepushing poses a risk of creating more problems than it solves. Basepushing isn't a direct problem like "people sp...

The list of "20 reasons why basepushing is strong" is not the point I'm trying to make. It's to show why balancing basepushing is not a simple task. All of the practical ideas require modding the base code (something I am not experienced with at all), and most of the work-around YAML solutions are b...

Of these, I think long build times on defenses is the most relevant. They don't have to cost more, but simply take longer to build. This sort of works the same way as putting tech structures in the defense tab, as it limits the amount of defenses you can produce. Defensive structure build time nerf...

That "short" list could easily be twice as long if we went in-depth and detailed everything out. The scary part is that those details could easily be interpreted as actual problems. For instance, avalach mentioned more how vision actually works in this game, while I just brushed over it very quickly...

Why basepushing is so strong
I will try to keep this as short as I can for those people who have a distaste of reading my walls of text. Basepushing / MCV usage is not a simple problem, and it definitely cannot be solved by any simple solution. Here's a short list why, in a very rough order of importance: 1. The "I was here fir...

I didn't want to sidetrack your thread, so I will make a different thread for this. My MCV thread is too cluttered for that.SoScared wrote: ↑

the effect on base push would be too limited compare to the fact to be annoyed to not have enought radius to build your own base. Base push strenght is not crawling to the heart of the opponent main base, it's mainly be able to pop a rax and a def when you engage whichever is an army, or a base. If...
