Re: Ideas for mod-maps
A Defense of the Allies MOBA seems to be yet missing. Infantry could be creeps and vehicles heroe units. I was thinking of something similiar too. Its such a simple concept that can be quite effective and would work quite well but there is a lot of random things that need to be possible to make it ...

Re: Dune 2000 wishlist
A lot of complaints I hear about is the fact its missing elements from the original, cant remember what specifically but it is often brought up and referenced as a reason to pay d2k no interest.

Re: Using of software programmable macros in competitive games
Still though, it was always my impression that higher skill correlates with higher APM and that this is also true for OpenRA. That's what would make sense but in Red Alert having a higher APM is not necessarily a good thing (unless producing and microing air etc). Unless you have perfect positionin...

Re: Using of software programmable macros in competitive games
Why are people mad that someone is tinkering with open source software? ORA isn't a game, it's an engine.

Re: Using of software programmable macros in competitive games
[...] My analogy stands, the point was that it's not a fair fist fight when someone turns up with a shotgun... That's not a fistfight[...] That's the point... So ORA is no longer a video game when someone uses a macro? Sure its not fair if everyone isn't aware but pressing f1 and f2 isnt the most i...

Re: Using of software programmable macros in competitive games
You're using software external to the standard client to glean advantage... What's the difference? Theres a huge difference between a program that simulates key presses and modifying your client. There is just as many differences if you were using injection. My analogy stands, the point was that it...

Re: RAGL Season 5 Post Season Discussion
Although for 1 player strikes I'd find it unlikely the other side would agree to play. There's a lot of complications with 1 player strikes replaying matches. Im curious what the complications are if 1 player gets the strike but they both agree to play it out? Not everyone is like Ganon and will ta...

Re: RAGL Season 5 Post Season Discussion
4. There are too many divisions/players It's nice that RAGL welcomes everybody but the problem is that lower divisions are not as interesting as the top ones. There's no intrigue there. I am not saying we should remove those but as a viewer, I don't find anything interesting in them, so maybe we co...

Re: What to do about racism in OpenRA - Red Alert?
That might get better with the accounts when you dont see where someone else is from. People think this is a benefit when in reality its just another box people check before kicking someone from the game. Then if they don't kick them its time to make a smart remark about their locale. For the past ...

Re: What to do about racism in OpenRA - Red Alert?
... That might work with children, but here? I think ignoring mainly helps establishing a reality in which words and meanings start to change. If people challenge the idea that the n*word is racist, there is something wrong - given that scenario everyone had a german ip, you can expect the knowledg...

Re: What to do about racism in OpenRA - Red Alert?
the part I quoted represents IMO such fundamental conventions of human interaction that I am surprised that you feel the need to explicit point out that it is not binding for you (or other people). You might as well bring up a Bible quote then because it is just as relevant to playing the game than...

Re: What to do about racism in OpenRA - Red Alert?
I usually dont play with those people and try to problematize, which as you might guess, usually doesnt lead to: ah well, true the n*word is a historical reference to colonialism and slavery and so on and therefore pretty racist - thanks that you are reminding me". No the answer is rather something...

Re: I was told 5 YEARS AGO that the RAT tank would return to OPENRA by SLEIPNIR HIMSELF
um, sweetie. the rat tank has in fact been in OpenRa, and you are revealing your status as a "n00b" (pro gamer terminology) that has no real gamer cred (also pro gamer terminology) by replying so foolishly. in a mod map ≠ in openra Sorry maybe i am wrong but i play this game much longer than 5 year...
