I guess this is a workaround for the bug where you undeploy your construction yard and it becomes a neutral MCV when the capture is in progress. Ask chrisf in #openra how to solve this so you can still capture vehicles.

Westwood is okay as an Author. Be sure to upload the new version including dunes at http://content.open-ra.org/?p=detail&table=maps&id=664 We will then include it in the official release. Quality is very good.

I just found https://code.google.com/p/openredalert/ which is exactly what you try to do: an exact replica. It even reads the data from .INI files and also runs natively without .NET virtual machines. It is however not as mature as OpenRA and looks pretty unmaintained. Latest SVN snapshot did compil...

Red Alert and OpenRA use sprites. Voxels were introduced in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2. Have a look at http://modenc.renegadeprojects.com/OS_Voxel_Viewer for some Open Source rendering code on these.
