Looks awesome. Is it worth baking the views of the voxel units down into sprites so they're not quite so expensive to draw? That `alpha` value is how transparent to make the shadow. There's a *separate* control for which palette entries are to be replaced with the shadow color -- see current RA (&D2K?) yamls for how it works.

We'll need to clarify with the fuzzynet author whether their licensing terms are GPL2 only, or GPL2+. We've got a problem combining it with openra if it's 2 only, since we're 3+.
