Foretaste Tournament Qualifier, February 3, 5 pm UTC

Post by Lorrydriver » Fri Feb 02, 2018 2:07 pm

Hello beautiful people!

My initial invitation list for the main tournament on the 10th only consisted of 9 players and of course I had to leave out a lot of good players. I want to give those players a chance of making it into the tournament.

Tournament details:
King of the Hill Bo1, no faction restrictions.

We'll have a randomized list to determine who goes first. The winner of the first match moves on to play the 3rd player on the list and so on, until there's only one player left. The first map will be El Azahar. After that the challenger chooses the map.

The last remaining player (KotH) will have to face the player with the most wins in a Bo5 to decide the winner. If the King of the Hill also has the most wins, then he'll qualify directly. Should we have a tie for most wins, then Best-of-1 Tie breakers will be played. The winner and perhaps the runner-up will qualify for the main tournament depending on whether OMnom accepts his invite.

Map list:
I wanted to have a balanced map pool that features maps of various sizes and eco situations. I also wanted some maps in there that play different to any other map.

Furthermore I decided to not feature maps like Hesperian Grove, Snowflake and Shadowfiend II eventhough they're extremely good maps. I feel that they are already well established in the competitive scene and therefore don't necessarily need more exposure.

Face-off
Race Tracks
The Great Divide
Stanitsa
Equilibrium
Baphomet
Badger Hills
Pochinki Fields
The Trench
RagnaroK
Teared Strait
El Azahar

Current list of players for the qualifier:
eskimo
ZxGanon
Unano
Anjew
Mo
Blackened
N/a
Abbarat
Happy destroyer (netnazgul)

It's kinda rude to only salute 15% of the community when you start a topic.

count me in ;)

confirmed players so far: Lorrydriver, Barf, Happy, kazu, Smitty, Orb, Gatekeeper, FiveAces
invited but not confirmed yet: OMnom
The winner and perhaps the runner-up will qualify for the main tournament depending on whether OMnom accepts his invite.
My math may fail me, but isn't it already 8 players for the 8player single elimination tournament confirmed? Or you have an idea how to fit 10 players into a 8ppl bracket?

This has been a lot of fun and makes me feel good about the maps I picked for the event. Thanks to all the participants and congrats to the winner and runner-up !

That was very nice! Really like the last man standing vs most wins format! Many GGs!
