MAP: Isle of Man - thanks for creating it!

Post by Ronald » Sun Dec 29, 2019 2:37 pm

This is a simple THANK YOU VERY MUCH message for the creator (Mv) of the map "Isle of Man" (V.06)

I really love his map and especially the new Naval units you have added to it.
You definitely (for me) have succeeded in adding more FUN to OpenRA naval battles

While playing it I (against AI-bots) got a few suggestions for the next version of this map:
- An underwater "MCV" / Submarine factory (which can not directly be seen from above the water)
- Aircraft / Helicopter carrier
- Amphibious vehicles / tanks

Q: What do you think of these additions?

Thx,
I created the mod, Mv created the map, all assets were created by other people and used without asking for their permission. All credited accordingly. I edited some of the art, but mostly just written unit behaviour and completely rebalanced them. I can work on the mod some more if people wish but I'm no artist. I'd need someone to create more art, like Jet Ski's for allies and DPV divers for soviets, naval capturables / structures

Having Aircraft Carriers would be cool. Soviets as an equivalent could have a boat that sends out divers. It is just a shame that OpenRA doesn't support such logic, and probably won't for a long time

Thanks for the confirmation Punsho

1. What do you exactly need artistically?
- since I am able to create 3D models by building in Blender https://www.blender.org
- I can also GIMP a little https://www.gimp.org/
- and I understand a bit of coding too ;-)

2. Can an Aircraft Carrier be modelled as a kind of floating Airstrip / Helipad?
Here are some Carrier examples from WestWood's RA2 and RA3:
- https://cnc.fandom.com/wiki/Aircraft_ca ... d_Alert_2)
- https://cnc.fandom.com/wiki/Aircraft_ca ... d_Alert_3)

This is an actual C&C mod with the Nimitz(US) and the Kiev (USSR) in it:

OR.... Is the build-in game-logic of the OpenRA Game Engine not (yet) capable of supporting Naval / Carrier operations / mods?
