Classic Red Alert mission porting to the OpenRa

Post by Kukov »

Hi guys.
I am Captain Georgi Kukov -chief of field operations in this region.
And I am want to port original missions to openRA. But i am need help, i am new in openRA and dont know what software to use. I hope for understanding and help. Becouse today OpenRA dont have all missions just some. And run original RA in modern windows more difficult then earlier.

Lets start. Can anyone write step by step manual, how to develop simple mission and add this in the game?

Hi kukov

First of all, if you want to directly contact developers I strongly advice you to join our IRC channel : #openra on freenode. http://www.openra.net/community/

Months ago, some volonteers started to work on the classic mods but sadly because of lack of interest (and other things to do), they have been abandonned:

https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/pull/2741
https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/pull/3120
https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/pull/2633
https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/pull/2632

But as you noticed, other volonteers joined the team and are still helping in porting old missions to the current OpenRA engine (and its modified balance).

If you want to contribute, you are welcome to help us create new missions :)
Join us on the IRC channel if you have time.

See you

I think he is talking about the campaign not those failed attempts. See https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/issues/4989 for an overview of what is done and how. You can claim a mission to script. https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/wiki/Map-scripting has some instructions though it may not be up-to-date.
