Edit and creation new graphics

Post by Holloweye »

How can I convert the graphics for the tanks and such to BMP or something like that so I can view them?

And do we have any tool to convert them back (so that I can change / make my own graphics)?

Thanks for any help

Welcome to the forums,
The graphic files used ingame openra are .shp format (used from the origional mix files)

the easiest way i've found to edit them is using OS SHP builder (which can extract them to other formats if you prefer)
you can find it here: http://www.moddb.com/downloads/os-shp-builder-336
and there are a few tuts here: http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/index.php? ... 0061e95704

also to extract the files from the .Mix files used by ra i'd recommend xcc tool's mixer.
you can d/l xcc tools here: http://xhp.xwis.net/utilities/XCC_Utilities.exe
The xcc tools also include other useful tools for modding c&c games

also these are what I use so others may use something different.
happy modding :) ,
Sammyyyy

Thanks!, I tested to open and save SHP files with SHP Builder and works great. But with the other program XCC I don't seem to find how to extract a .MIX file could you just make a small guide?

I thought you could package the mix file with XCC Mixer...

I must be wrong.

Oh you're right did not notice it was possible to right click in that list. But noticed all the SHP files are totaly black anyone know why? (I have tried to change different color schemes)

(Screenshot to show that the pictures are all black):

Hmm, thats probably the pallet setting.
Try going to view> pallet in xcc mixer and choose a couple of the red alert pallets until the shp is properly viewable.
Hope that helps,

When I goto View -> Pallet -> Select... there is no pallets to select from how dose that come?

(BTW I use Windows 7 and start with Administrator so that should not be the problem)
