I didn't watch replay, but if it's something close to this one then it's one of the long-standing bugs with dogs which are yet to be fixed.

There are bugs with them, although sometimes dogs can really save you from troop rushing. It's hit and miss but a dog can kill like 20 troops sometimes.

new idea to bring France into the mix.

France at tier 3 has the option to build dogs with guns that are like a rifleman but on cocaine with their speed. Backstory is they deleted a gene in the dogs DNA which prevents them from shooting people and then clone the fuck out of him. Concept picture here.
