Wow, tons of great artwork here!

My brain just produced a few Soviet YAK's flying in from the horizon in the following image. It's fucking beautiful. The title 'OpenRA' isn't easy making it look good but perhaps in a style that resembles the text in this image?

The Gamingforum Marketingplan
There are many many gamingforums on the internet. Some in foreign languages, some on English and also there are big forums with a seperate gamingsection. We want to gather a list of those forums. I have searched for the Dutch gamingforums, but its substantially harder for me to find Russian, French, etc gamingforums. Once the list is getting big I will start making accounts on all those websites and post the news + ad image or news + video there.
This plan will probably start in a couple weeks or so (but we can prepare already).

What we need for this to succeed:
- We need people who speak German, French, Russian, Spanish, Arab or Chinese to translate the newsitem (I can do the Dutch translation)
- We need people who are willing to google "Games Forum" in mentioned languages. Save the URLs from every big gaming forum in an excelsheet or get editing-acces to the google spreadsheet and add them there. In one hour you should be able to find 10-20 big sites or so, easy!
- I'll sign up to all those websites and post the newsitem + image or news + video.
Mailaender and I have been doing this for years now. It's really time-consuming and help would be appreciated.

According to the number of replies on these forum threads, it seems that these gaming websites (or at least, some of them) are dying.
Maybe the RTS genre is not dead yet but I think players are nowadays more interested in 3D games (RTS games or not).

We have two SteamCommunity groups:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/openra#announcements (this one seems not to be updated often :-/ )
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/openra4life (and this one seems to not have Announcements enabled)
Facebook
- Post on relevant Facebookgroups (gamergroups and such)
- Keep our Facebookpage up to date
Mailaender is one of the most active contributors of our Facebook page.
Ads
http://www.ppmsite.com/?go=advertiseatppm could be an option (since this site/forum is one of the most active among the CnC modding community) but as you can see PPMsite ad prices are pretty expensive. But maybe we could ask for donations and gather the required money for 6 months (or a year) of ad campaign.

Of course, someone (a man of confidence from our community) would have to be nominated to gather all the money. It's just an idea..btw. But, imo, prices are really high. :-/

Not sure about our Facebook/Twitter/G+ strategy. At the moment I am posting a lot of shoutcasts and occasional mod WIP shots. FB and Twitter are mirrored for technical reasons. I often repost at G+ as well, sometimes the content is slightly different as G+ has better support for .gif so I can use better artwork there while just a static at FB. If someone is interested in managing our social media accounts, I can set up accounts.

The ModDB posts are now also mirrored on ppmsite.com which is convenient and gives us HTML to BBCode conversion for free. http://www.ppmforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=41293

Good to see it has been posted around. My aim is to post it on more regular gamingsites as wel or big sites that also have a gaming section. It'll be quite some work signing up everywhere and posting, but that's ok. I just hope that some other users are willing to help making a list of gamingwebsites, or sites that have a gaming section.

As for the facebook, google+ etc. Good that they are being updated every now and then. It may not attract hordes of people but it does make OpenRA look good, imo.

As for the ads: yes a trusted person should manage those funds and we should use the funds as effective as possible. Would be a shame to blast $100 or so for 4 users :)

This forum has a shit-ton of users and activity. OpenRA should have it's own news' and happening's thread here. I'll try to start one up soon.

I've also registered to the site as I intend to get on their non-featured stream list (featured streams requires 100-150 consistent viewers). The hope is that my twitch channel's consistent Monday streams will stand out in the 'other games' section and reach a new audience.

Good stuff SoScared! I think that such forums and especially your stream will help trickling in users. It's such forums that I hope to get a list of and systematically post threads there about OpenRA. The good thing about most forums is that threads don't go as quick as they go on Reddit, depending on activity.

Seems like OpenRA is being noticed: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comm ... _internet/

Top Comment mentions it; nice to see that on one of the main subreddits

I´m wondering if we should change the name "OpenRA" to "OpenCnC" (with TS and RA2 coming... and the forgotten Dune...)

A seperate OpenRA thread has been opened in TeamLiquid's 'other games' forum. Please consider to register and reply to the thread as TL's forums are very active. Add information, cheer it on or whatever. Also if you think I should alter or add the OP let me know.

Ok so as expected, the forum thread on TL is going fast. Have a look from time to time, there will be users with a lot of questions there!

I've also submitted a request to the mods on having my stream listed. Looks like it will go through. I've also created a stream announcement thread in the forum's stream section.
