HYPE the redesign of OpenRA's statistics tab.

For a while now a ticket has been open on Github on adding an improved statistics bar for spectators and replays:

https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/issues/5121

The thought of having this feature available is really exciting and I've been craving it since Rider brought on the idea. This design of easy-accessed live info would add another dimension to watching replays and bring new life into casting and spectating. Most matches are team games with a lot of players and it's almost impossible to anticipate players' thoughts and strategies without knowing what exactly they're building and how well they're doing in misc. numbers.

If you can, please comment, discuss and spread some hype about this to give moral support to whomever is looking to work on it. If you want to support directly, if only a little, consider using Bountysource to specifically support the above issue! Not only does it add quality to OpenRA but it would also indirectly support casting. I will also match all contributions made through Bountysource up to $200 by 20 November! This is also a good time to polish the game in this fashion; recently, FiveAces has gained support of gamereplays.org's staff in organizing his casts and they plan to feature his coverage of future tournaments on their front page. Anyone interested in casting, including myself, would be inclined to commit more time to quality VODs with better observer tools.

So again, if you can, please hype and support this feature any way you can. It would benefit everyone and encourage more quality exposure on the tubes.

UPDATE: The entire statistics tab is looking to get a complete overhaul and a lot of progress been done with the production tab. Still, a lot of work to be done to implement it across all the mods. Keep encouraging the process!

When I get home (3 weeks) I'll add 10 euros. I can miss that and it's a great feature.

Buttttt if I recall correctly: there's a function freeze atm?

The feature freeze only applies to the next release. New features are still being worked on and merged for the following release cycle (i.e. the first playtest after the next release).

I will add a bounty too if the devs at bounty source hurry up and reply to my email :\

Sounds like an easy way to make money. Someone answer his email asap! :)

If this feature would make it into the first playtest after the next release, I'd be extatic.

Big thanks to 'lagsucks' for his $40 bounty on the 2nd posted issue!!

Because of that, the issue jumped up to 4th place on the Bountysource list: https://www.bountysource.com/teams/open ... _ids=36085 (go 'advanced search', tick 'OpenRA/OpenRA', change view type and sort by '$').

That would be amazing and bump the comfort level for spectators up to SC2 standards!
Wholeheartedly supporting this!

Both for observing and replays, every time the statistics tab is closed, the drop-down menu resets to Basic, which is annoying e.g. when you want to toggle monitoring production.
Please make it remember the last tab.

I'll be matching every contribution to bountysource on this issue up to $200 by 20 November, so get on the hype train! Also narrowed the focus down to the single issue: https://github.com/OpenRA/OpenRA/issues/5121

I'll add that to the issue as well.

If there's more you guys think is important here as well, be sure to share your thoughts.

Awesome! Thanks NMM, added it to the ticker.

I've been having some interesting discussions with penev92 recently on IRC on the production tab design for the default mods. It surely gonna take some work but it looks like we could end up with something closely resembling the StarCraft 2 production tab for replay/observer (or Rider Rockon's mockup). The main issue is with TD where the amount of unique units/buildings that can be produced simoultaneously is rather big (theoretically as high as 32, but practically tops around 12-14), compared to D2K (7) and RA (6), due to the ability to build multiple units/structures with multiple production fascilities. For the moment, support powers would require it's own tab.

Awesome R34ch!! Now I'm probably going to far, but does this bounty also include a rewind option? Sometimes when you watch a replay, like in the last 5Aces cast, something odd has happend and you didnt notice. Rewinding allows to see what happened without watching the replay all over again.

* edit: already $175! And... @penev92penev92 self-assigned this 5 days ago

Added to the ticker. Nice one r34ch!

With a growing bounty amount we should expect a stronger result whenever the issue requirements are fulfilled. However the rewind option I think wouldn't apply to this issue unfortunately. If I'm not mistaken, rewinding replays are closely related to issues around 'save games' as something something has to be able to save certain game states on request or intervals for replays. These issues are already out on Github.

***save game support is currently the second most popular issue on bountysource: https://www.bountysource.com/issues/136 ... me-support

Also I'd like to remind everyone that the issue also has to process through reviews and consensus with the developers, making sure that it works appropriately and doesn't create further issues. Bounties doesn't mean automatic implementation to the game but it certainly indicates the will of the community and gives a strong incentive to find new solutions that may alter the game for the better. In this case the rewards for implementing the idea of this issue would mean a big deal for showcasing OpenRA's production value.

Well for me a rewind feature is only minorly wanted compared to easily accessible stats anyway.
