Re: Map Design Contest 2018 - The Outcome

Forgot to post in here. Well done to those winners! Nice to see the usual names still making maps. Would of selfishly liked a CRLF RA map too :p

Re: Problems with running red alert

Avast always blocks openra for me upon new installs, so definitely a troubleshooting route worth going down.

Tried to post something earlier today, but guess it didn't go through as my connection was horendous at work site i'm on, made sure to clipboard it just incase though. Re: Using of software programmable macros in competitive games

That would be really good and reduce the 3rd party macro advantage somewhat. As i've not posted in this thread yet, i'm of the stance if it's not in the game then it's not really fair. If some players think that they are at a significant disadvantage not using macros, then that's enough reason to ba...

Re: Mod: C&C: Combined Arms

Did you ever play " Heck with brutal AI" mod map on RA2?

I think that would be a great addition to ORA. It wasn't an intelligent AI, but rushed rediculous amount of units and cheated eco completely.

But yeah, intelligent AI is probably far too much dev time to be worth it.

Re: Openra academy

I joined also. I always opted for playthroughs with discord chat. Having novices beat the AI within T1.5 and advising on eco scaling as they play. Then have them watch through replays together pinning down key mistakes from a few games. It worked quite well. I did a little picture document that show...

Re: Mod: C&C: Combined Arms

Pchote iirc reckoned that there were many offline players. Regardless i think team based games dwarf competitive 1vs1. It's just the 1vs1 players tend to opt to bug finding and testing/balance more

Re: Hijacking husks

I think the idea floated about before in another topic discussing them. I like this idea more because the hijacker is fun. Also saves rebalance of the engi and removal of a unit.

You don't need it to play.

But, if you want to, here's how:

Re: Map Design Contest 2018 - The Entries

That "shared responsibility" map looks really quite interesting. Think that has a lot of potential with the retreat-able expansions and huge flanks.
