Mod Game Server and Pipleline
Hello Guys, another request, this time for help! I was wondering if it is difficult to set up an OpenRA server (how long did it take you?), and which kind of computer model would be minimally required or which one you would think is optimal (to have running all the time). The reason behind that is t...

An unclaimed community position at OpenRA
Hello Guys, yesterday I looked at the OpenRA resource center, where all the maps are stored and found a map "3pl-Extraction ", a variant for the allied Extraction coop mission and wondered how good it is. It is a shame that many maps go unseen... I wondered if there is someone who reviews maps, and ...

Re: Bold Balance Playtest Maps
Greetings Commanders, I have finally returned! My one-year-hiberation has ended. To be honest I was looking forward to get modding again :) First thing first, I wanted to update my old modmaps so they will continue to work in the future. I was pleasently surprised how easy the update process was, I ...

Re: Bold Balance Playtest Maps
Hello, I will be taking a hiatus from openra, for at least a year. But I found one final unfinished map I wanted to share with you. The Idea was to create a map which tells you what you are doing wrong (from the perspective of optimal competitive play) in a 1v1 situation. For example not deploying y...

Re: Mapping tools / references
You can copy-paste / rename the actors in the map.yaml file. Trees, taks and starting positions.

Re: How do I change selections available to buy.
Hi Lassar,
if you mean how to restrict what a player can build, then that can be done by adding some yaml code to the map.yaml file inside your map.
It is not possible just with the mal editor.
This should be a good starting point for you:

Re: What is the worst problem of Allies and why
@punsho o come on, I can not be ignorant. I have been way too long in this game. Nice calm analysis 5A. Great stuff. This thread is about "the problems of allies" though so I'd like to point out that both allies early vehicles become obsolete pretty quickly, while soviet have a great variety of late...

Re: What is the worst problem of Allies and why
Well... Ranger is currently one of the best early game vehicle in the game that can also be useful in midgame. Orb has proven that. It can be used to reliably snipe out reinforcing and relocating infantry. Can deliver spies right next to War factories, barracks, powerplants and others like them. We...

Re: What is the worst problem of Allies and why
In my opinion the allies problem is an imbalance in power among their units. Some of them are really really good, so good it's not worth making the other units. Then, if you buff those units allies immediately become too strong, and that's why they are not being buffed. Too good: Hind, pillbox, AAgu...

Re: I wanna create a RTS game
Hey, that's pretty ambitious! It you really want to start a fresh game, you'd need to learn how to code / program; for example in C#, java or python. That's for all the rules going on and displaying the graphics. That's the most important thing. Learn that on YouTube. And then you also need to make ...

Re: Bold Balance Playtest Maps
Hey, just did an update of the UOE map rules to version 007 . Just one map this time, but with an important feature which I wanted to do for a long time (cuz' balance on water maps), and with the new release it became possible! Awesome :) Changes since UOEv006: - removed the hijacker buff (capture o...

Thanks for casting
Actually a friend requested your cast of this game, after I showed (and roughly commented) some of my games.
Cheers

Re: Balance thread for release 20190314
Well, your comparison is kind of problematic. Since you pitted anti tank infantry in a favourable position against a tank with a mainly anti tank role. Even in theory the result should be clear. Try to stack the rockets in one cell and retry. Also 3 mammoths vs lots of rocket soldiers can win (kitin...
