Dogs might be a little underused.
You mostly only see them at the start of the game. They don't work on the battlefield (not for me anyway), but they can be great defence sometimes, although using them is very hit and miss and you need the enemy troops to be targeted on something else.

Even if it's an original ability, you would still need to take account of things like-- The original was never properly balanced in the first place, and there have been major changes (improvements) to air units in OpenRA which may change balance requirements anyway. If trying to fix the problem with...

If you make substantial change to an original unit, people could easily feel that the original unit is being undermined or lost in a sense. It's going to depend on the case of course, but I don't think an extra unit has always to be a more intrusive solution. Well I did some digging, research, a li...

I don't think this is the same issue as the in-game installation bug. I mean it results in you having an equivalent problem to that, but it seems to be something more. This is an issue where you can't go to the resource centre for the map either. (Although I haven't checked in the last few days if i...

I was the first to bring up MiG Air to Air in this thread and of course it wouldn't simply be a flip the switch and call it a day thing. You would need to fine tune its air to air attack separately from its air to ground attack. It would still presumably be something you need to micro, and be payin...

When you are balancing stuff like this there are a few methods that can be used. a.) You can use just general number tweaking (and fixing some bugs or oversights) b.) You can enhance a units main role which it already supposed to do. c.) You can add an additional role for that unit. d.) Add a new u...

When it comes to the objection to taking the game in a non-original direction with an extra unit... What has been done so far is to change the nature of an original unit, the Missile Sub, to give it an AA ability. As it happens, it's not that big of a change to the nature of the unit. It's got the s...

Map Install Issue
Some of the maps don't seem to be downloading. Pictures (map design) aren't showing on the resources site for the maps in question (I think), and if you click on the map you don't get taken to the page for the map, but rather directed elsewhere.
Reason for this?

SirCake's flak trap and other changes IRL Flak Trap Nice! the amphibious light tanks might be a little too adventurous for my taste but all the other ideas are interesting. The Flak sub is a little bulkier than I was envisioning. How does its speed compare to the other subs? Is it also able to hit ...

MiG AA may be a fun thing to use, but... A group of Yaks can destroy a Missile Sub in a split second. They could maybe even kill 2 or 3 in a very short time depending on the timing and positions, that they are all lined up and surfaced around the same time. Like 3 or 4 seconds and they are gone. If ...

If you wanted to stick with just the original units, there is the option of giving either the regular submarine, or the missile submarine, the additional ability of being able to surface with a flak gun. (How the flak submarine works in the special rules maps.) Or as far as I know they could be give...

I don't see how it could be OP against infantry? Infantry would only be at risk if they were near the shoreline. You can just move them away from the water and they are protected. It's unlikely they would come across many engis in the first place?? They could also presumably by easily destroyed with...
