I just want to reiterate that we don't plan on taking any action on hinds until we've found a balanced solution to the problem. ___ There's two methods that I'm pondering, one of which I should actually know how to test. Both ideas include moving the hind to soviets and re-balancing it in a way that...

As a competitive player, I'm inclined to agree that certain liberal changes in favor of good gameplay are worth it. I also agree that OpenRA needs to stay true to the feel of the original, and that removing unneeded bells and whistles would help with that. Allied Hinds are certainly an issue in bein...

I'll go ahead and go on record so folks can know what to expect. I've seen nothing to suggest that nerfing rocket solders would be good for fun and engaging gameplay. I especially disagree with nerfing their anti base potential as we are trying to avoid going back to the pre-stance change days of MC...

To me, an issue with subs is the way they are targeted. IIRC, destroyers and gun boats in the original would use depth charges vs subs while surfaced as well as submerged. With destroyers able to use their missiles vs subs in ORA, a sub is almost within their range as soon as they surface to fire. P...

2018 RA Balance
The last release cycle was a time of transition for the RA competitive community. RAGL was under new management, we saw the single biggest change to gameplay in the new defense stance, and then some complete yokel took over balance. The good news from all of this, is that we can now confidently say ...

Can you explain the logic of swapping the mobile gap generator and phase transport if the sniper drop is introduced? I don't disagree exactly but I'm also not entirely sure why it's necessary. I assume it's to balance out the bonuses.. is the mobile gap generator not seen as a useful unit by most p...

The weakness of France and the spamability of the $250 spy is something I still want to change. Problem is we need an accepted strategy going into the next playtesting phase. I still favor the two birds, one stone approach of replacing the British spy with the sniper drop, and swapping the phase tra...

V2 nerf is too bad, it has less range then art and thus cover much less effective attack area now. After hearing more feedback from the playtest, I dialed back the minimum range reduction from 5c0 to 4c0. This will be an extra one-cell minimum range for Arty and V2s from the current release instead...

Happy New Year y'all! We've got an official playtest coming out shortly, and I hope to see the regular players make the switch. Unlike previous official playtests, this one won't come when RAGL isn't in session. With RAGL out of the way, there's no reason not to play your normal matches on the playt...

I've got some time off for Thanksgiving so I decided to release an updated playtest. Let's get to the changes: Revised: AA gun delay reduced from 9 to 7. (Current release value is 5) - The AA gun nerf was too much so we're dialing it back. If anything, testing has shown that Allies need a significan...
